    Re: Snowmane, the problem is...

Remind me, what does that have to do with anything? Referring to "After WWI" is generally the time period between WWI and WWII
You know something nifty, covered in dead bodies and economically crushed was better than the dead bodies and hyperinflation after the first world war (Yes, this refers to the time period between the wars)
He had an affect on it, he basically reunited Germany, after WWII, Alsace-Loraine (sp),a disputed area between Germany and France that was rich in important materials stayed German territory, despite its losing the war. This is far better than having a demilitarized zone that covered half of the country as after the first war (once again, the time period between the two world wars, picking up a theme here?)
It doesn't, I just felt like saying better, faster, stronger instead of using a more logical choice of words
That is correct, just before WWII, Germany had just taken over several countries, but the rest of the world did not care, and was a military machine.

America and Russia each rebuilt half of Germany after the war. America got the West, Russia got the East. Then there was this fun little thing known as the Cold War, and also the Berlin Airlift.

Considering the Wall only came down 13 years ago, and Russia itself is in a terrible position, it's not unexpected. Love that Simpsons episode where the Russian pushes the button, and the Communists return in their full glory, with the Berlin Wall popping out of the ground with guards already patrolling it.

Exactly what blunder was that, Jar? I'm not being a dick, I'm really interested in history, but details of battles are what fascinate me the most. I cropped your quote from where you were saying that Europe finally, after a year, attacked Germany and they were pushed back. What blunder was made, do you know?

I did not know that America and Russia building one side each of Germany was how it was seperated. What was the Berlin Airlift?

I believe Jar is referring to the Dunkirk episode - the Germans had something like 300,000 Allied troops trapped on the beaches of Dunkirk with no way to replenish their ammo or food. The Germans could have wiped them out completely, but fiddled around and let the entire army be evacuated by British ships.

The situation was that the german army had the opportunity to cirkle in the whole british military expedition about 250000 men in a city away from the beaches. It was the genius hitler who gave the order by the way.

I have been to birkenau, ausswitch, sachsenhausen and i must say that i'm immpressed with what hitler manage to do. Really impressed, great building right. After WW2 almost a whole german generation was killed, great building. Yup. Great builder. Not to mention the great reputation building he did.

Luchaire was right, I was referring to Dunkirk.

The Berlin Airlift was when America had to bring in supplies for the whole of West Berlin for nearly a year by plane. Russia decided to block off all land support, so for nearly a year one fully loaded cargo planet landed every three minutes carrying essential supplies. The Russians eventually gave up :). Quite interesting, and one of the better accomplishments of America.

Am I the only one that's a little curious as to Menion's statement's relevance to this topic? Considering not only that it's a little after the fact, but also considering that I already have his reply in my signature.

As you'll note, I sent him the PM on: 05 Dec 2002 09:08
    I received his reply on: 06 Dec 2002 02:07

It's just a little late odd to declare war, considering war was already declared.
