Hey! Guess what.. I had had a lot of problems with my old computer and when i wanted to play arcanum and it didnt work i had enough. So i bought a new one, its a quadcore 6600 with nvidia geforce 8800 gtx and 4 gig RAM. guess what.. arcanum still dont work. I had to get arcanum.dat and the other file copied manually from the cds. I have installed the patch! It wont start. Nothing happens. I have tried every .exe file. Nothing happens, at all. Please help me. I want to play Arcanum!
am trying to reinstall but this time its arcanum1.dat and i cant copy it manually from the cd to the harddrive
i got the arcanum1.dat to copy by zipping it to the harddrive and then unzip it. I still dont get it to work though. I installed the patch before running the game.
Almost there! What i did was i disabled the User Account Control UAC in Vista and now i get the commercial logotype videos in the beginning it says loadling and then it crashes back to windows. But at least i got the game to run puh! Thank myself for all the responses in this thread so far...
i tried with the 800 600 resolution both 256 colors and 16-bit, doesnt make any difference what so ever. all my drivers are freshly installed. i cannot understand why it wont work. please help me
Welcome to HoL Nexus 7. Nice name. About your problem, I don't know how and where, got mine trillion years ago but try to obtain a fresh Arcanum copy? Copying files from disk to hd does not necesarily mean that they will work, they can be moved even when they're still corrupted. And if the game crashes during the loading screen it's most probably about your corrupted .dat file. Also did you try another OS? Appearantly many people have problems with Vista. I'm using XP myself so I can't help in detail, but some people say that it doesn't work with Vista, some say it works fine. I say Vista is full of shit. At least for now.
Thanks for the compliment! Ok, so I just ordered a brand new unused copy of arcanum (it was 24 dollars). Jeez, ive never paid for a computer game before in my life. But the puter was 2000 dollars and i do want to play the game. i havent tried with a different os. damn. Ill be back in a week or so when the game has arrived.
