Arcanum doesn't launch !

First I hope you'll forgive my bad English but I'm Belgien and I speak French.

So. My (very) big problem is, as the title said, that arcanum just doesn't run. I tried with my own CDs, with others ISO, with patchs, without patchs...
And I just have a black screen for 5 seconds before going back to desktop...
But it used to run correctly on my computer even if it's a very old one...

We'll need some details about your hardware configuration in order to help you, i.e. OS, graphic card, RAM, is it Arcanum vanilla?

Donne-nous quelques détails sur l'ordinateur et la configuration (système d'exploitation, ...). Tu utilises juste la version originale d'Arcanum ? Tu as essayé les paramètres de compatibilité?

 

Ok, I use winXP, I got an ATI Radeon 1150 and 1Go RAM.
As I said I tried with all I can : 1.0.7.4 and A:WIP, without A:WIP, without even 1.0.7.4...
And I tried also all the compatibilty options there is (from win95 to win2000) ...
Dunno what to do, help me :cry:

 

Try the latest version of the UAP found here in the downloads section. I know A:WIP does use a version of the UAP but I'm pretty sure it's not the latest. I had a look through the changelog and couldn't see anything that might help your problem but it's worth a try as I didn't look that thoroughly.

 

It still doesn't work... always this black screen...


I think God just hates me.

 

Update your video card drivers or something? Your computer seems to be pretty ancient.

Yeah, seems like it. Maybe human sacrifice is your only option. Kill yourself.

You really don't have to kill yourself, perhaps getting some virgins is a better idea. Great Cthulhu is always there.

Have you tried DosBox? Or (I hope that it is very clear) right click on the game exe. And change it to an older start program like windows 2000.

 

It sounds like an issue either with the opening videos or with your video card driver.

I'd propose one of two ideas:

1) buy it from gog.com for $5. There's a link in the General Discussion straight to the game (that also gives us a few cents towards paying for hosting).

2) Find the oldest available video drivers for your graphics card. Roll back to those.
