Anyone care to explain why the UK seems so fucked up?

Do I agree with the maxim? No. Do I understand it can and often is necessary in times of war? Yes.

 

These "Dumbfucks" as you called them bluntly, actually used their best efforts to defend this enclave from the forces of the Serbians. Yes, they have failed, but you can’t only blame those brave soldiers for this debacle:

1. They were highly unnumbered and were armed with only light weapons.

2. The Dutch Government wasn’t prepared for this kind of thing.

3. Lieutenant-Colonel Karremans sent many urgent requests for NATO air support to defend the enclave, but they came too late.

Lieutenant-Colonel Karremans: “We need air-support, now. I will send the coordinates.”
The English: “Sorry, old chap. we can't give air-support now, we are having a tea-party."

Also, there is no way to prevent any civilian casualties at each war. That's just a fact. In most of the cases, the enemy builds houses around important buildings, using human’s shields as protection. When these people are accidentally killed through the bombings, they will blame us for killing them.

I have to agree with Magikot. You may know that the British and the Americans did the same thing by bombing the most cities of Germany and Japan in World War II. Why? There was no other way to stop the war machines of these countries.

 

1/ All those cities were bombed at the end of the war, when the German armies were in full retreat. It is called reprisal though, it is like revenge but can be ordered against the enemy in response of another atrocity committed by the enemy. Also the Geneva Conventions were signed AFTER World War II.

2/ Kurds are in a far better condition than Palestinians. We don't bomb every city they have in majority, we let them live in our larger cities, and we don't form settlement camps in the Eastern provinces. They'd not be oppressed at all, like Circassian or Laz minorities (the Laz form some of the most loyal subjects of the Republic - more Turkish nationalists than the Turks, one could say), if they didn't have their silly socialist rebellion (see. PKK). It is no excuse to put pressure on them though, and we should make progress on the topic sometime. They'll only get out land over our dead bodies still.

As for Armenians:

- They were reallocated to Syria and Lebanon, in response to the ultranationalist irregular Armenian groups attempting cleansing on Turks/Kurds to achieve majority.
- The reallocation was under Ottoman Imperial rule. Linking it with today's Turkey, no matter how is like saying the U.S. today is to blame for what happened to Indians in the Colonial Age and the Wild West. Calling it a genocide would make all Western nations a lot more genocidal historically too.
- There is still no excuse that makes it okay, for making people march from Eastern Anatolia to Syria. I accept it to contradicts human rights. The Armenian Diaspora (interestingly, most of the Armenians I know here don't give a fuck and just want to live in peace) just go around calling all Turks murderers and throw overblown accusations around because they failed to form their own nation-state.

Wrong. The British already bombed all those cities and important infrastructures in the years 1940-1942.

Wrong again. The Allied Forces actually used the Strategic bombing for these reasons:

1. Psychological weapon to break the enemy's will to fight.

2. Progressive destruction and dislocation of the German military, industrial and economic system.

3. Preventing the trains going to the concentration camps.
