To tie this into Star Wars (which applies to all facets of human life), consider this: Everyone felt at least a little sad when Obi-Wan died, because we had grown to know and love him. But when Moff Tarkin ordered the destruction of Alderaan, we all just thought, "What a bastard," and continued watching the movie.

 

That's only because we "knew" him- had we not, if he were just some guy off the street who got hit by a car and died, it wouldn't be so much of a tragedy to us.

Alternitively, I think people seem less sad when a million people die because it's hard for them to get their arms around. They can't imagine what a million people is, then just have it be gone, whereas with just one person, it's easier to grasp and feel pity for.

 

Whatever the reason, it doesn't make the statement less true, which is the beauty of it. It can be interpreted many different ways, and it's going to be true. Gems of wisdom like that are great.

 

That has got to be the nerdiest thing I've ever heard in my life and for that I bow to you.

 

A death is a death imo and i couldnt get all emotional over one thing like that. I've had deaths in the family but i dont allow myself to be all soppy about things like that. I'm... sure... those kids had a long happy life... :/

well, duh. of course you get over it eventually. hence my saying i would be temporarily insane. but the kid just died. and i know you childless losers can't appreciate her parents loss, but those of us who have brought new life into the world not only understand their pain, we feel for them. because it could happen to us.

that said, i know someone's going to make some remark abouot how not having children doesn't make you a loser, blah blah blah, y'all can bite me.

Actually, I wasn't going to say anything disrespectful about Rosie or her baby. I made that comment because what I wanted to say would have almost certainly been interpreted as disrespectful. Therefore, I made that comment. Which would you prefer me to say? Something that sounds disrespectful, or say that I wanted to say something that sound disrespectul. The obvious answer is to nothing at all, but I really felt like saying something.

let's see, wolf... you can't watch rated R movies, which means you're a teenager... and you complain about everything, which means you whine... how is Jar not right?

 

Well, first of all, I am allowed to watch R's, just not at the cinemas, because it's illegal. I've seen about 3 R-Rated movies inc. Fight Club, Boondock Saints, and it's possible that I've only seen two because I can't remember the other. But that doesn't mean anything. Just like saying I was a teenager didn't mean anything because A) I didn't mention it, because Jar was right and B) because a lot of the people here are teenagers. I'm not whiney. In fact I don't believe I've ever been whiney. And I definitely haven't whined recently. But please, by all means prove me wrong, because in your last post all you did was say "Hmmm. Well, that's wrong. And so is that." In conclusion, go away, get some evidence, and come back when you're not a piece of shit."

 

i just threw all the ones that seem to be the least popular.

 

A) Complaning can be construed as whining and you seem to complain a lot, but then again so does everyone else.
B) Whenever anyone rgues with you our immediate response is "no i'm not" or "so?!!" and its never anything close to funny, or witty.
C) No one else seems to have quite the same problem with being so consistently annoying.
D) Even though a lot of us are teenagers, there is a big difference between 19 and 13, or even 3 and 15.

In conclusion how about you shut up and come back when you're not a little bitch, and you can take it like a man? Or at least dish it out like a clown, instead of a prick.
