I figured I had to prove my admin powers, I think I'll unban him in a couple of days to show them again in case anybody forgets I have them.

Fair enough. I sort of missed this whole fiasco, and seeing as it's sort of over, this may not be relevant, but if one is going to join in a distinct group with it's own rhythm, one cannot interfere with that. The length of time someone has been a member, their number of posts and so forth, do not confere superiority so much as their ablility to match the community's rhythm. Part of this is learning when to let something go or, when asked, to politly hush up. I think Qilikatal has a valid point about there having been worse noobs before, but should we not strive to have the best possible underlying thing (however odd or vulger it may be)?

The bottom line is, it may seem unfair to be excluded from a group just because they don't like you, but one should question why one would want to be part of a group which you don't fit into in the first place.

 

Quite right. I don't think he was bad at all, and was only rude and flame-happy when others decided to gang up on him. Do people here really think our "community" is big and stable enough that we can afford to drive away every single new member who shows a personality and some balls?

There's about as much chance of that happening as there is of everyone else here chilling the hell out and cutting them some slack.

He did nothing wrong that should have him banned... though I doubt he would stay long if you all would remain hostile towards him for no apparent well thought through reason

I agree too mostly, he didn't do enough to get banned, but everyone else kept flaming him making him defensive. And it was easier to ban him than the rest of the forum.

 

Easier, perhaps, but not right. You could have also considered telling everyone to stop being dicks for no reason, and then closing the thread.

 

I don't think closing the thread would have put a stop to anything. Spooky would have tried to make himself the center of attention in a different thread, and the cycle would continue.

 

It would have stopped this particular flashfire, and then everyone else would have been warned about it wouldn't they.

Or would everyone here prefer the HoL remain a cesspool of dickweeds, with the worst of us going unpunished and the only moderately annoying banned? And really, wasn't he only moderately annoying because the rest of you were dickweeds?

i honestly had no problem with the little weiner. if he wants to be a target, that's entirely up to him. and yeah, maybe we're a little harsh. but what is he thinking, to come to an established forum and tell us we need to conform to him and his attitude? that's just retarded. if you upset the status quo, you're gonna get flamed.
