Ahem. I guess I've got "newbie" written all over me, but what do the pictures and titles to the left of one's post mean, and how/when are they changed?

They are user ranks, based on post counts. It's a system we've had since our previous phpBB 1.4 based forum. There used to be info in the FAQ about this, but it was gone after we upgraded, and it hasn't been brought back due to laziness on my part.

In other news... welcome to the board! Enjoy.

Oh. One more thing; how do I put pictures in my post? Linking didn't seem to work...

    Well,

Part of your problem is that Angelfire doesn't allow for remote linking. As for directly displaying images, you can use the img-tag for that (bbcode, see the FAQ for more info on how to use it).

The FAQ holds the answers to most of the questions you most likely have...which is why it's called the FAQ, and not the RAQ (Rarely Asked Questions) :D.

    Uh, yeah, hi...

Alas, poor Mr Smiley, for she moved out of the building. :( Damn ministers get their own damn special offices. It's not fair! Not fair I say!

Does that mean you liked her or something DU? Wanted to get it on with a minister and 'influence' politics?

How does moving offices mean she can't come here anymore? Did she move to some magical office vista where the Internet isn't allowed at all, so as to keep their minds clean and on ignorant politics?

We had a minister of the Australian government posting on our message board?!

What's a minister? Is that equivalent to a congressman or a senator?

A question: did mr.smiley ever say anything? If I remember correctly, those posts consisted simply of stupid smileys...(I dislike smileys by the way, except this one: =Þ, and a few others)

Also, welcome to the forum, gibberish-man! Are you a superhero?

Okay, we have state governments and such. A minister is a person who has a position with the government and sits in the Parliament, which is kind of where all the decisions are made. I think. It's not that big a deal, being a minister. They're pretty minor political players in the big scheme of things.

No no no no no no. Mr Smiley is not a minister. She works for a minister. She also isn't a forum person. It took some convincing to get her to come here. She usually visited www.bored.com

She's now moved out of Parliament House, so I don't get to just walk into her office anymore and have a chat (funny how that happened, I'd be out walking around the halls and somehow I'd end up in her office...) Hmmmm... Anyway... She's only ended up working for a minister since the election. So now she actually has work to do as opposed to non-minister people who have no work (actually, that should read "very little work most of the time").

As the sand shifts through the hour glass, those are the days of my life.

So...you're in SA...and is Labour in power there? Or is that the only Lib state. Either way, do you work for the party in power, another party, or for no party in particular.

Dammit, I want a cushy government job too!

Okay, first of all that's "Labor". There's no "u" in it (story is they either wanted to be more in touch with their American counterparts, or the guy who was sent down to register the party name was stupid and didn't know how to spell it.)

It is a Labor government though. And no, you can't read anything into that as all parties can end up on the same floor and it's not uncommon for staffers to "get to know each other" ;)

Yeah, it's not bad. Although come the end of the year, I'm thinking of quitting and finding something else. Being in politics for a year is fun. I don't think I could stay in it forever though. Hopefully, I can get another cushy job somewhere else or I can do the mature age entry thing, go to Uni and study AI.

Yeah. Good luck with that. Giong from one cushy job to another...and studying AI. If only everyone could do that, well, there'd be no problems in the world because everyone would have cushy jobs and be studying AI to make robots to do all the manual labour for everyone else.

So, yeah, let's all do that!

*sigh* - all posts like this inevitably end up going to another topic...

RC6X03NX, anything to say? For starters, is your nick randomly generated from a password cracker?

Well, considering the only post that is appropriate with a topic of "Ahem" would be:

*cough* *cough* Just clearing my throat. *cough*
