Hey at least he didn't use sewage as cooking oil like they do in China.

Pine oil? Man, they must keep 'the best of the best' for the front lines, eh?

Is not that what people usually say, when things happens that apparenly happens without a reason?

Jungle Japes: It is good to see that you are okay. Also, that cook should better use olive oil. It is more healthier. The pine oil cleans your stomage though.

Ground control to Jungle Japes, do you copy? Over.

Has anyone heard from him lately? Since the story of the helicopter being shot down over there?

May the force be with him.

    Dur, thanks Grakelin.

That's embarrassing, but good to know.

Hi Japes. Here's hoping that your tenure in Afghanistan will be a largely eventless affair involving little more than opportunities aplenty for facial hirsuteness, unhealthy amounts of X-box or whatever console the kids are playing these days, good coffee by some miracle and loose women in burqas.

When my Dad was there about five years ago, one of his buddies at the base would have him ask me to look up tips for him so he could get through his PS2 games. It was weird to me that they spent all their off time either dodging rockets or playing a video game where you dodge rockets.

I'm still here, counting down the days and months. Regarding the recent shoot-down, it was a Chinook in eastern Afghanistan. If you hear of a Blackhawk going down in western Afghanistan, then you can watch for my name in the news.

I don't have an Xbox with me this time, since I live in a cramped tent, so I'm limited to the piddly games I can play on my laptop (most recently, the SNES version of Harvest Moon). I have also found the time to start rereading the Wheel of Time series. My last read-through ended with the untimely demise of the author, Robert Jordan.

Oh, how war is evolved. In World War II, soldiers wished they could get home so they could build a farm and start a life for themselves. In the War on Terror, soldiers go back to their tent and just do it.
