I was just wondering: how on earth was the strange location where you can find the aerial decapitator ever discovered? I mean, it's not mentioned anywhere in the game and the location does not get marked on the worldmap when you happen to wander nearby. Don't tell me someone didn't have anything better to do than explore the whole map, pixel per pixel.

It's just like finding the Fan Graveyard. I explored the rivers and the letters of the map. There.

You actually did that? That's fucking sick, man. That must've taken you days. What about life and reality? Didn't you miss them?

Anyway: how can we know for sure that there aren't anymore secret locations on the map? No one ever checked the whole goddamn map, now did they? Maybe there's a city out there that doesn't get marked on the map, a secret city that is filled with wonderfull quests and loot. And who knows: maybe there is a secret location, yet to be discovered by someone with too much time on his hands, where your character can take a zeppelin and fly all the way to Cattan!

    Nah...

Why not? I would get awfully happy to be able to get to Cattan. I just don't understand why they put the place on the map, as it's only spoken of a very few times in the game.

Well I guess it was an option for the future. Like if they had made Arcanum 2 then it would have meant that there was at least one completely new environment to explore.

If there is a secret area then it does not have a name / circle which appears above it i.e. you would have to walk in the normal map to find it. However I'd wager some naughty designer has dropped some items at unknown locations in the game but the chances of stumbling across it are almost none.

Everything with a location has to be listed here:

That was perhaps even worse than Frigo and his links. My eyes shut in self defence as I scrolled the screen.

I found a new city! You have to click right into the center of the monkey's left eye, the one on the map just below the glimmering forest.
Just kidding. I just spent way too much time micro clicking around the map.

I think this may be useful to someone at some point. Can you say that about any of your posts?

Myeh. You'd have been an idiot if you had read the whole thing for no reason.
Wait a minute...wolfsbane not taking the stupid option...

Yeah, they could've done something more to improve the smurfs there, really. But I think it's cool that they're there anyway, with Gargamel and all...

But I think that Kerghan is cool, really. He was just not supposed to be the final über-boss-of-doom. He should've been someone you met in Arcanum, or in the Void.

But he fails where he is. He didn't have enough monions or infernal devices for my liking. In fact, the whole void section was way to abbriviated. I was expecting to storm something equivalent to Sauron's Tower, or at least Isengard. Instead I got a few tough mobs and no cool loot.

That's true. I, too, expected more of the Void. The place only had some lizards and a few sucky legends, and that was the lot of it.

The whole premise was that the Void was a place of nonexistance. If they wanted to upstage that they should make it reasonably the opposite, a realm of pain and suffering, but with life. Give it a few towns and villages and maybe even a few sidequests. Give it shops. In the towns, have the scaled up version of orc thugs, using demons. Maybe even make it fucking matter if you kill Golfroth or not, as an example.

Yeah, but like you said, that would've defeated the purpose of the void. Although, that would definitely rock. It seems more like hell than anything else.

The elven council thought of it as such but they did not know for sure. They were obviously wrong because the void had plants, animals and buildings (which indicate sentient life living in the void at some point).
If Kerghan could build such a big fancy castle and teleport system would he need the dwarves to build him a portal? I really don't think so. Therefore someone else built it.
Personally I think the void was another world vaguely like ours in which something catastrophic happened, shattering the world into floating islands. The people were trying to recover and rebuild their world by creating the teleporters to link the islands. Then the elven council started to dump uber monsters in the void and this finished off the struggling civilisation.
