Ever since I was 15 and could grow a beard, I've only shaved it off on a few rare instances. Every time, my chin has been freezing, no doubt because it has gotten used to a nice warm cover of androgenic hair.

Man, you're lucky. I get decent chin-growth, but the rest comes in a little too thin for it be worth keeping as a beard. I keep my chin hairy though. It's a touch thinner/shorter than I'd like, but it works.

Yeah. I had a full bear at 15 also, but I had a receding hairline to go with it.
    It helped to buy beer.

    EDIT: s/bear /beard /g

Here it is. It must have fallen off and bounced under the desk. I'll just add it back in, shall I?

You know, I think I'm going to start my own beer company, and make all the beer's names references to this forum. Either that, or set up a Distillery. I can't decide which seems more fitting.

How about both? And get a vineyard while you're at it.

A distillery, and I'll burn it to the ground unless it churns out a whiskey referring to me.

So much for my Dark Elven Ale.... What about a moonshine? I'd call it Drowshine.

Silv's Remark would be, of course, some kind of fancy looking alcohol with a mild rufie-like effect. :) What else could we use to name our drinks?

They make good weapons of self defense too, don't they? Come to think of it, has anyone invented the balisong straight edge yet? You know, in case you're walking through the park late at night and you get hit by the urge to shave and a mugger at the same time.

EDIT: Fuck, who flipped on the offtopic switch when I wasn't looking.

It's fine. I was about to bring it back in. Does anyone have any type of soap/etc. that they really like? I'm currently using an unscented* one from The Art of Shaving, but it was really fucking expensive. The upside to it is that it's all natural, and alcohol free.

*I hate most scents, and I don't want one with alcohol in it, as my face reacts to such things with a talent. My body, as a whole, doesn't take very kindly to most forms of alcohol.

    *flips offtopic light on*
...and yet you want to produce it. Cheers.
Hmm. PapaDog's Despoiled Virgin Blonde. Sounds good. Of course, I'm open to others.

    It's all about profit. ^__^

p.s: and while we're talking about favorite soaps/etc. Who makes good brushes? I've a badger brush, and it does the job, but it feels rather cheap in quality. Recommendations?

(I should probably point out that this has become a hobby bordering on addiction for me I've probably bought almost 2 grand worth of shaving gear since last July)

Well if you want a decent cream at a decent price get a tube of Proraso, it lasts forever and has a heap of eucalyptus and menthol in it. I've read that in the US you can buy it at Bed, Bath and Beyond but its called 'Bigelow' or something like that, same cream just rebranded.

I personally use Proraso Pre/Post shave cream, Tabac Soap and The Gentlemen's Refinery Afteshave Balm. I also tend to use Truefitt and Hill a lot, T&H along with Taylors of Old Bond Street and Trumpers are called the 3 T's and are the oldest shaving suppliers on the planet they all sell quality stuff. Art of Shaving isn't in Australia but from reviews it seems they have some okay products (their soaps and creams mainly) but they are scorned by a lot of people because they tend to hire staff who have no idea what they are selling and their customer service record is pretty bad.

I only use brushes made by Simpson, but I wouldn't buy one now since they got bought out and the company that owns them now (Vulfix) is sticking the Simpson name on brushes it makes in its own plant. Aside from that Rooney, Kent Shavemac and Edwin Jagger are all good Plisson is spposed to be good but I can't bring myself to spend as much cash as is required for their top of the line brushes. At the lower end the Tweezerman is a great little brush for what you pay and from what I've read the Best Badger Brush sold at Crabtree and Evelyn is actually just a rebranded Edwin Jagger and is supposed to be the best brush to try and get if you are a newbie in the US. If you wanted a boar brush then I would only recommend Omega, they make badger as well but their boars are their main product line. Personally I've never used a synthetic brush so I cannot comment on how good they are, although you have to be careful because a lot of brushes sold as 'imitation badger' aren't actually synthetic they just have different animal hair in them.

Well LP, I think I may be headed that direction. We may have something in common soon. I'm thinking I may order myself a really nice brush from Amazon, and get myself a sample set from truefitt & hill to try out their range of products, and hopefully find one I like. Oh, and I think I may buy from classic shaving.com in the future, but I happen to've a gift certificate to Amazon (and what do y'all think of that brush). ^__^

Oooh... I think I'm definately getting that brush now. I think I may buy myself a cheaper one in the meantime, and then get one of those next month.
