    Nicely put, Fish.

Magicarp, I'm glad you agree with me... it's also interesting to see other people's stance on this idea.

Muro: What's wrong with trying? Everyone dies in the end, so we aren't getting out alive.

The little things always come back, somehow.

What your index finger used to do, Fish, does not concern me.

Not if you accept the right quests. Have you been using one of the Asshole Faction walkthroughs? :D

It's funny; I've never been approached by people wanting me to kill off all the rats in their basement.

Thinking about this I was actually asked to perform a quest from a random stranger once.

A long time ago when I used to deliver pizza I thought the customer was waving me down. She was standing close to the address on the tab so I naturally assumed her to be the customer and stopped my car. It turns out it was some crazy homeless lady. She opened my door and jumped in the passenger seat and told me I had to drive her to the liquor store fast. She was also holding a smelly greasy paper bag. So since I was bored I drove her to the store she requested. She told me to keep the car running and jumped out. Next I hear all this yelling and can see her throwing stuff around and the liquor store owner chasing her out. She runs into my car and tells me to DRIVE. So I drove her back where I found her and she offered me a job that pays 60$ an hour if only I would give her my pizza. I said no thanks and finished my job.

I never knew what was in that bag.

Apart from DarkFool's inaugural post, JaFiaJ's picture has been the most whorthwhile contribution to this thread.

    Now, my turn to opine:
Reared in the American Southeast, presently living in a neighboring state of Washington, I have found that people are no less polite and considerate here in Boise, Idaho. Although what is true for Idaho is not necessarily true for Washington, I am left with the impression that people are more or less the same no matter where on finds himself and in my limited experience, people are generally pretty good. I feel like people are more likely to help than not, but as DarkFool has experienced, there are those who will choose not to help presented with the opportunity. This should not be taken as representative of people as a whole, but more of a testament to the fact that people are different and will behave differently on an individual basis.

Thanks for sharing, DarkFool, especially as your post had potential for making you seem self-serving. Vive le Renaissance!

At your mention of racism, I would like to comment on something I witnessed yesterday:
A minivan was pulled to the side of the road as a man was changing a tire on the vehicle. Under a nearby tree huddled about a dozen people, mostly young children. This is remarkable as that many people children should not be riding in the single minivan. This is amusing as the people involved are Mexican. Racial stereotypes don't come from nowhere, people.

Race, culture, you name it. If there's a stereotype, there are many examples that could be motioned towards when proving your point. I happen to live next door to inbred 'chav-scum' who do nothing but play dance music all day and fight with each other.

To add something for the sake of the thread itself, manners are their own reward, regardless of the reception they receive. I had myself be scowled and complained at for holding open a door for a woman when I was in high school, twelve years old. Claimed I was belittling her, but she was clearly a damned nutcase. Since then I just look behind me when passing through doors, and if someone's within distance, I shove the door open enough so that they can reach it before it attains the velocity of a quality face-slam. I'm quite passive regarding others' problems, but if not helping would make me look like a seeyouentee, I help.

The above door rule doesn't apply if they're carrying something, though. I stop and wait. Reverse rules apply to Grant; a fat, racist fuck who I'd love to spade, but that's a topic for another time.
