First of all I'd like to say that I'm relatively new to this forum, meaning that I've been looking thru it, doing searches and getting usefull information from it for about a month, but this is my first post. Also a few things about myself, just so that we don't have any misinterpretation. In almost every RPG I play, I usually follow a certain standart I've gradually established for myself. I first make a buch of very different characters and play then 1-3 hours into the game, to get the feel of the world, so to speak. Then I make one main char that I will roleplay and get thru the enire game, to the end, thereby doing what the game is generally meant for. After completing it for this first time, having learned much more about the game; I create a char that I will use to powergame and make him/her the most effective one that is possible under normal game conditions. For my third run I use mods, hacks, abuses, guides and forums to squeeze out every last drop that the game has to offer  . I do however avoid large mods, that alter the game too much, for my own reasons. The reason for saying all this, is so that people don't think of me as some dirty cheater who can't beat the game as it is, since right now I'm in the last of stages, described above. Thank you for your atention so far! Here is some info that may help you answer some of the questions. I have patched the game up to 1074, installed a no CD and a no level cap craks, shopkeeper inventory hack, machined plate fix and I think thats it. Oh yeah plus a few altered weapons. And now for the questions uch: : 1. When I've entered the iron clan with both Magnus and Longhair in my party, they did have a conversation, but there was no mention of the possibility that Magnus will become the leader of the iron clan, wich should have happened if I understand correctly. 2. After Virgil had run off naked after Tsen Ang, I have teleported to Caladon, saved and went below the Sobing Onion to get him back. However he was not there, but just some thugs who attacked me. I think it is safe to assume that I went to the correct place since there was a scroll of ressurect in one of the chests there. So I thought that maybe I came too early and the Virgil didn't yet have the time to arrive  . I reloaded and wasted a moth of game time wandering the land and doing nothing, came back, he ain't there. Thinking I might need to triger something, went to Tarant, got the newspaper about his brothers death, cane back, he ain't there :x , what the *@"!%&^!!! Please tell me, am I missing something, is there some kind of trigger that I may have missed. 3. Since I am playing an elf, I can't get int above 16, but I want to make advanced weapons and things like dynamite reguraly. so I created some brain builders, but they only boost the int up to 18, which is one point below the requirement, there fore I've put in a mind marvel into one of the shops. So I use the mind marvel first and then the brain builder and voila my int is 19! I quickly make everything I need and decide to wait for the effects to wear of. Wait for one day, effect of brain b wears off, but not of the mind m, wait for another day , nothing happens, another day, noting, waste a month, nothing. Now I'm permanently under the effects of the mind m !?! My stats remain changed and all colourfull... Which I only realised after I've overwritten all of my savegames already. since a lot of my stats were maxed out when this happened, now I can't raise the ones in red back up again. What a load of brahmin dung. Any ideas on how to resolve this? 4. Is there any way to edit your followers stats or skills. Since Waromoon has a magickal aptitude and I can't give him the hot pyrotechnic bow I've created just for him and Payne becomes moderately incumbered with just a mechanised platemail on and can't properly wield shite, so I had to adjust the flamethrower str requirement just for him. 5. Is there a way to change/remove the race specific limitation on stats, it kinda pisses me off to have to drink brain builder every time I need to construct something complex (it ain't a bother, it's just a tad unpleasant that my uber mage/tech/thief/warrior has to do it). 6. This isn't so important, but just thought I should mention it. Can you become a master of several school spells? I know it is possible to take several tests and to have several amulets, but is there any way to be master of several spell schools.? It would help me very much if any of those questions are answered. You will have my eternal thanks, always be welcome at my doorstep, I will be forever in your dept, will e-mail you lots of cheese cakes and so on and so forth. Sneaking out 8) ...
Hmmm... a similar thing does always happen to me. I go to the Hall of Records to fetch the newspaper, and then I go to Caladon and the cellar of the Sobbing Onion. As with you, no Virgil, just thugs I have to kill. Then I just go up the stair and down again, and voila - Virgil and Joachim. No need to waste a ressurect scroll or anything. It could be that you have to go the Hall of Records before the Sobbing Onion. You mean Half-Ogre right? Hmmm... doesn't it work if you have 9 base Int and an Essence of Intellect? Shady, please help me out. :/ Chrisbeddoes has done a mod that will allow you to edit this, I think. It can be found here: http://www.terra-arcanum.com/~chris/ ...but that one makes HUGE changes to the game if I understand correctly... Backgrounds can raise racial limits (won't take 'em above 20 though, and the +12 limit still applies). From what I've heard, it won't lower any limit though, so a Sickly Half-Ogre could turn into a truly devastating technologist. No, I don't think there is a way. No problem. Send the cheesecakes! Oh, and welcome to the forum and all that! :wavey:
Ah this is indeed good news, since I have not tried this yet. And that save was before entering the S.O. , therefore I have continued without practically entering it. Anyway I'll try do it as you sugested. Whoops! my bad. Forgot to mention that I took the "model" background, just for the kicks. Yeah I saw it. Pity. But I can always hope something else will come up. Whats a +12 limit? Thanks for the info! Who said anything about any cheese cakes? aranoid:
That means that you can't raise a stat higher than 12 points above starting level. (so if starting Strength is 8, it won't go higher than 20) No problem. I'll send you a bill. You did. Read the end of your first post Oh, and when you send them to me, please put them in a box. They tend to get all mashed if you try to put them in an envelope.
Payne with a mechanized plate mail? Why??? Give him a Barbarian Armor, a Flow Disruptor and either Bronwyck's gun or a Sharpshooter's Pistol, or a Warbringer once you get one. Payne's low ST may be annoying, but only until you get a decent gun. Waromon rocks. Give him Ellumun's bow and watch the bodies fall. I always do it. Not annoying one bit. Its actually the strength of a techie- saving CPs by using elixirs.
I can see your point of view. However it seemed just right for me. Since I wanted to create a scary guy in mechanised platemail with a flamethrower in his hands (it just looks cool). Besides I wouldn't worry too much about his flamethrower: MST5, +10 chance to hit, 3 fuel consumption, +35-70 FD. MUA-HA-HA-HA! :minigun: _ :rifle: As for the lizard, thats just what he has equiped right now! I just wanted to go for a bit more style. well, you see... the char points are not the issue here as you may have noticed from my first post, my char has waaay more points then he would normally have at lvl49 about 140 points to be more precise  It's just those damned limitations, I wish there was something I could do about them.
Well there are some files in Arcanum that will let you change how your followers spend thier points. Its "gamelevel" you'll have to unDAT "Arcanum3. in your main Arcanum folder in order to access it and modify it. As for a weapon editor, look around the "Modding and Scripting support" area of this site and you'll find a very nice and easy to use one.
The level cap cheat is bugged, just so you know. Where'd you get the no-cd crack for the latest version of the patch? Enquiring minds want to know!
Speaking of which, does anyone else have any experience with multiple third party cheats which all require you to replace the exe? You've got Arcanum. You patch it, creating a new exe in the process. You install the level cap cheat, replacing the exe once again. The you stick on the no-cd crack, which may or may not replace the exe (I've seen a few that don't require replacing it, but not many... I think the cracks for Arcanum replace it) and may or may not be for the correct version of your game. And then, you experience bugs....
Well, why don't you just edit the Pyrotechnic bow to make it neutral or magickal? Here's the editor: http://arcanumedit.couchpotato.net:5678/?item=6166. It's easy to use and whatnot. Knock yourself out. Instructions: Download the file to your c:\sierra\arcanum\data\proto directory. If you installed Arcanum into a different directory, use that directory instead. Modified weapons containing invalid values may cause your game to misfunction or stop working altogether. If this happens, you can download an unaltered version of the weapon by selecting the weapon, clicking the load button, then immediately clicking the download button, without modifying the weapon's statistics.
slaps his forehead I kinda thought that it was clear from this statement that I already know about the item editor and have already used it to create the flame thrower I just mentioned above. Aooo, thank you so much, I completely forgot about the ability to adjust the weapoons aptitude! Unfortunately I have just found out at reaching level 50 that the no lvl cap patch is indeed bugged. I think I'll just remove it and be content to stay at lvl 50 while my followers catch up (if I remember correctly the original patch allowed your followers to continue to gain lvls after you've reached lvl 50). The hack I have downloaded was a double on e in a sense that it included both the no CD crack an the no lvl cap crack in one, so there was no need to change the exe file twice. But as it seems the lvl crack ain't working so I'll be better of without it. It'll still be a pain to reinstall Arcanum, but hey better something than nothing, right! Here is a link: http://www.gamecopyworld.com/ The Arcanum files are there, just search a bit. Sorry but the site won't provide me with a direct link to them. About the undat thingie. Thats where the problem lies. I've been having errors with the undat utilities (both of them). I'll try again tonight maybe I'll be able to work some thing out. By the way I've tried to do as darkelf sugested in Caladon and it worked! Comparing Sebastian and Payne, found out that if I gave them the same equipement they both become moderately incumbered, judt on the opposite edges of the range, so I went with Payne. By all the piles of brahmin excrement! :x I Just found out I've been using the NO-CD and no lvl cap fix ment for the 1070 patch with my 1074 patch. duh... :smash: Oh well at least I notidced. Thanks for all the help so far!
The only thing they have for the latest version is a "fixed exe". Forgive me, but I've no idea at all what that is. Considering when they've got a no-cd crack they CALL it a no-cd crack, I'd assume it's something different.  Well good luck on your future cheating endeavors. As long as you're having fun, that's the whole point.
Big mistake. Sebastian can make grenades and, more importantly, throw them. Give him some Stun grenades, and he makes a BIG difference in combat. Then again, with such shameless cheating it won't make a difference. Why don't you just edit items weight, if you're such a cheater?
You see? This is exactly the kind of attitude that I was talking about in my first post. So to help you out, here is a quote from it. Just in case, I'll say it a bit simpler for you: I always first finish the game clean the first time, no mods, no cheats, no hacks, no guides and no help from anything or anyone. Only after enjoying the game as it was meant to be played originally, only then do I use all of the things mentioned above. Even then it is only for me to be able to explore every single thing in the game. I have spent my time explaining this to anyone reading my post so that I won’t have to do so in the future, but apparently I have do so now anyway. I resent being called a cheater because I am not one. A cheater in my definition is someone who cheats in order to complete the game or to get an edge over the other players. I do neither of these things. I have never had to cheat, in any game, in order to complete it. I do so afterwards to add spice, fun and replayability to the games I like. The guest who asked about the no CD patch understood this. I realize the above sounds harsh, but I hate to repeat things, which I have specifically pointed out in the first place. So I meant no offence to you by saying the above, I just want to set the record straight so that I don’t get called “such a cheater in the future. No hard feelings? :hippy: By the way that item editor mentioned only changes the stats of weapons, so I can’t adjust the weight of machined platemail, and I don’t need Sebastian to make my grenades. So I wanted to get back to this: What really should happen when you get inside the Iron clan cave? What happened in your case?
They should have had a conversation between them that tells all about the Iron Clan & Magnus' birthright. There is a trigger point that can be missed in the Iron Clan, but I never knew that Loghair could be triggered without Magnus being triggered. I found out about the trigger point when I had Magnus but not Loghair. I had saved outside & tried again. Second try I hit it.
