Ok, first of all, some history: In Army Of Darkness, in order to destroy the book of the dead, the hero must memorise and say the words "Klaatu barada nikto" This is a tribute to The Day the Earth Stood Still. In that movie the alien instructs the girl to memorise and say the codewords "Klaatu barada nikto" to stop the robot from attacking.

My question is this: I seem to remember somebody saying this in Planescape. Is this true? Who is it?

Also, I first started wondering after taking this quiz http://ludicrousspeed.co.nr/nerdtest.html

I don't recall anyone saying that phrase in P:T but I strongly encourage everyone to take that test if only for a laugh at some of the "I don't know" answer options.

After some research (ya, i'm really bored) I have discovered the phrase was said in Fallout.

"jared said @ 1:39pm GMT on 9th Dec
fuck i loved fallout.... where else could you get a game with monty python refences and robots yelling out "klaatu, verata, nictu!!""

Indeed. Well, I haven't checked if it's true or anything, but Jared's word is as good as gold. Probably. Also, I think the spelling is just a a matter of opinion.

As for the quiz, me and my brother's brain combined got a 58.23809523809524% (He's a little bit lotr and i'm a little bit hitchhiker's guide).

Those questions were so painfully nerdy and obscure I cried a single tear everytime I got one right.

PS: I sobbed at my wasted youth when I answered cheat codes question correctly.

    33.333333.

I wonder if that's by body mass, height, left/right, top/bottom, or whatnot. I assume all my body fat would be nerdy, as that's where most it came from. That accounts for 10% of me. My glasses are pretty heavy. Maybe 1%. The muscles on my typing and mousing fingers, maybe 2%. Where else to look for the other 20%? Certainly not my brain. That has certainly atrophied as I collected this useless knowledge.

On a side note, the "meaning of everything" in binary question reminded of something I want - a LED clock that tells the time in binary. Ultra geeky present, but it'd be hilarious to have this little square panel with a seemingly random array of lights, and tell people it's a clock, but only you can read it.

Yes, the product does exist. I saw it in some article from an American science magazine about geeky Christmas gifts.
