Hey everyone! I just recently heard of Arcanum, but I'll tell ya, it looks awesome!

Can someone please tell me some more info on the game, and if it is worth buying for a Fallout Crazed fan such as myself?

Get the demo and play it! You either need a drain pipe for a 'net connection, or get a copy off the CGW disc, or diskburner will get you one for $2.50 or so.

I'm a hardcore FO guy- and I like it. Feels like home, this game.

It has yesterdays graphics, a interface that is not completely intuitive, but seems appropriate for the complex system and annoying limitations for people who want to achieve godlike powers, which makes the gameworld rather realistic and guarantees a certain reliability.

All in all it is a great step forward from nethack.

There are also some other magz set to come out with a demo in next months issue. You can find out which on the Sierra/Arcanum site. For info on Arc check out the official site at sierra, the journals at Gamesmania.com, AGES, Terra-Arcanum or any other side in the linksection of these sites. I think that if you are a Fallout fan you would like Arcanum and to be honest even if you get the demo and dont like it there is still warrant in gettin the game as there are ppl that have played the full game but were not overly impressed with the demo.......
Arcanum will be the next ground breaking RPG to come since BG imo

I'm an avid Fallout fan, and I dig Arcanum.

It really boils down to what you liked about Fallout though. Arcanum has a lot of the rich dialogue and humor of Fallout from what I'd seen in the demo.

There's plenty of chances to do good or evil things as well, so that's up to you.

There's also gobs of miniquests and things in the demo as well, I assume this is the case through the full.

There are no Perks, like Fallout had. However, you can use spells and technology to do a lot of what the Perks in Fallout did.

The English mag PcGamer wrote that Arcanum was expected in November...I believe someone at the Inn denied this to be a fact though.
    I`m betting on September.
(I was betting on MayJune, though luck!)

The christians are waiting for the messias for more then two thousand years ( according to their own calendar).

What are the 7 months until december compared to that?

rotfl, i'd like to witness the whole future history of man kind, and then i'll laugh for each occurance that never happens.

like how i could smily at all the people who thought that 2000 would be the end of mankind etc

the fun factor of seeing people have wrong, people who have awaited something for generations, or 1000 of years even must be hard to beat! yeah, i'd enjoy watching as the beliefs crash down, and how they will say that it will come next year, promise, and yet again nothing happens.
    such joy!

Arcanum can succeed on it`s own merit,it does *not* need the Fallout legacy to be a great game.

hehe, i am? darn that was news to me

well GA, i think so too, but it is a game fairly close* to fallout, and no game since have been as close. so people will see it as the next big hardcore crpg, and thus fallout might raise the number of sold games.

*close as in humor, nonlinerity etc, and gameplay wise as well.

    Monk,
No no no.. see, they got it all wrong. The whole God thing is based on light vs dark, good vs evil, heaven vs hell..

God's binary, folks. The world won't end until 2048!

    <evil grin>
