guess what? I have been cheated by the game

Allright now, first I'm new to the forum so hi.

But I'm pretty pissed by now, because the game is just playing dirty. I'll explain.

I play arcanum patched, no mods on singleplayer. I've looked on sites and forums for gameplay/strategytips and decided to play (yes very common) melee weapons with tech later on.

All well, so i went to create my character. And here it comes, I picked a trait for my little dwarf (I believe it's 'ran away with the circus') that got strength+6 int -2 willpower -3 and perception -1. I figured thats nice because I'm not gonna use willpower and perception, bonus points for me!

But i was a little worried about the intelligence loss, because then I wouldn't be able to reach my int. max of 20.
So i made myself a little calculation; a dwarfs strength is 9 so its max is going to be 21 right?
If my trait affects my max/minimum i could get with my strength to 27 (+6 to strength).
At the start my strength is a whopping 9+6 =15
I have 5 points at the start so thats 20.
I figured if i can gain two levels and I can increase my strength to 22, my maximum is raised and so is my intelligence lowered (to max 18) and then I won't do that.

But happily for me it turned out that my strength couldn't get above 21.
So I went on fullfilling quests and now I'm level 25 and I wanted to increase my intelligence to 20 and guess what?
I can get only to 18!!!
So i'm getting the bad side of the trait, but not the good side!
This is absolutely ridiculeus. Now I won't be able to use the last (and best) technical schematics!

phew, this story took me awhile and perhaps I went on talking, but I've let off some steam.

Does any1 have an answer to this problem? Perhaps something I can use?

Um... the reason you can't go above 18 is because it takes a perminant negative for the intellegence and you can't make it higher....
But, maybe you could try a brain booster or some other techonology intelligence-enancer....
I'm not sure, maybe you could get Arcanum Edit from on of the site download areas and manually make it at least 19.

Well, I can understand it if my -2 to intelligence is a permanent negative, but I think that in that case my +6 to strength should also be a permanent positive. Thats my problem.
And those drugs, do they really work?

Bonuses from backgrounds and such do not affect your max. That's just the way it is. Sorry

Yes, the drugs work.... temporarily...

 

But does that allow you to get the schematics and keep them once the int bonus wears off is the question on all our minds.

 

Yes. But you would then have to increase your INT again by drugs every time you wanted to USE those schematics too. No big deal, but something to keep in mind.

 

Just as in real life, you can use drugs to help you get your Phd.

 

The drugs don't work, they just make you worse, but I...

 

THe vivifier increases all your stats by +1 PERMANENTLY so drink one of those to get strength 19

All the ingredients & the schematic are hidden in Vendigroth. You only need a few tech manuals to make it.

 

Okay, good. When my mage-uber melee- half ogre fighter gets there he will use it!

Err, what does the Vendigrothian Elixer do? What does it raise?

Also, what is the difference between a revivider and a reanimator? I think the reanimator did the dark necromatic create undead once, but I thought that is what the necromiser does...

 

nope those 2 are the same, just different ingredients.... like lemon and potatoe charges and the normal way to make them. They do the same thing

 

Oh, then why do they have different names? :-?

Also, why did they make them way so much? It is just so inconvenieant!

So... although it is possible to raise your stats over 20...but...is it possible to raise ALL of your stats over 20?
