Do you have any file browsing program on Windos ME? You know, something you can open and look at your directories with?

Okay, you have "My COmputer" sitting on your desktop somewhere? Open that and use that to get to the directory that way.

guys, it really is a good idea to learn to use your OS prior to learning how to use complicated programs inside of it :)

Okay, to rename the file, right click on it, choose "rename" from the pop-up menu and type in the new filename*sigh*

But... File type has to be changed too, right? .txt has to be changed to .dlg?

'Guest' - how long have you actually had access to a computer? THe stuff you are ass-king is at the same sort of level as learning what a keyboard is.

Check page one of this thread. And if you ask "what post" I am going to not only scream, but I will publicly humiliate you on my web-site by posting a copy of this entire thread up and using it as an example that people who DON'T know how to use a f**king computer should really stay the HELL away from Arcanum mod-making because when I first started the Amtut guide I thought it would help people who really knew how hard making a mod was but now instead I get a bunch of f**king retards who don't even know how to rename a god-damned file using their own f**king operating system. *BREATHE* God help us all.

    be careful

when you rename to a .dlg file, you will sometimes inadvertantly rename the file filename.dlg.txt This about drove me nuts in my modding, becasue it never shows the .txt unless you know what to look for. If you have successfully renamed your file to a .dlg and you STILL cannot get it to show up, then you need to go to (in the MY COMPUET window) View--properties. This will bring up a complicated-looking screen, from which you are looking for an option that says "View all File extensions." Make sure that option has a black circle filled in next to it.

My apologies for butting into the...conversation?

I just wanted to make sure this wasn't causing some of the problems.
