Is the team gonna be a winning one? If so, then the answer is yes, we will sponser it.

Okay, this is REALLY goingt o sound like an old fart moaning through his wrinkled cheeks. It's not meant that way, q., believe me.

When I was fifteen I used to help the milkman with his deliveries. Started at 6.00 am and had to do it Saturdays until midday, too. It was fun, running round trying to beat our speed records and getting to know all the poeple who lived in my town.

I'm not suggesting you do that, but at 15 life's a laugh and there are plenty of things you can do.

The thought of Queth roaming the streets in a gang, terrorising people with his words-that-are-stronger-than-his-fists is truly scary.

[EDIT] sorry about that, Q. - the image just made me chuckle

I obfuscate issues. Take a simple business transaction and make it last for weeks and then overbill my clients.

I work for *shifty eyes* ...a bakery. I...bake...yes...that should work.

    ...

    I typed all that didn't I?
Note to self : don't type personal observations in a public forum, or you may slip out that you're a spy for Jarinor's Communist World Domination Plan...

I am 13, in the 7th grade, and I go to school at a JR. High in Houma Louisiana. My real job right now is to protect Jarinor from assasination attempts because I am off for a week because of Easter.

Well I am in the 10th grade. May not seem like it but I am. I am actually prett smart. I just do not apply me self very well. I never care about anything, I do not care what happens to me. My grade are about average. I just do not do my homework. As I said I do not really care what happens. I can change my way of acting in this forum if I really want to.

Me too. I could have skipped a couple of grades, but I have never really wanted to do anything in school. I sleep half of the time because it is mostly stuff I learned in the 4th grade I am learning right now.

Yes...most of the stuff I am supposed to do I already know. Mainly English and History. Math I actually do not have a problem with. I can actually stand math but all the others I can not stand.

This was only about work, but given the Quethim and Gamenut comments, I thought I'd post a bit of my life story.

Let's see, pure A grade "square" student all-through primary school and high school until year 11. When I went through that whole "Why am I here?" and "What am I going to do with my life?" patch. I was most likely heading for Law School as I never really considered Computer Programming as an actual "job" per say. However, instead I failed Year 11, changed schools, finished Year 11 (rather poorly I might add) and only bothered with half of year 12. Then I decided on computer programming and as I was too young for the Uni mature age entry exam (my only hope, due to my grades), I went to a private computer training institute named: Interim Institute of Technology who have since changed their name (and web-site) to Spherion Education Group. That is actually the 4th name change the company has had in about the past 10 years or something (1st warning sign).

I spent a year there doing a Diploma of Business Programming which turned out to be the biggest (and most expensive) waste of my time that was possible. I did get a 3 month job making web sites afterwards, but that was only because the guy could "afford me" because I was cheap. Every other company said "Get a Uni degree".

After that, I got something in the mail from a political party and thought "wouldn't that be fun" so I joined up. Started volunteering there, thought up an idea for a TV ad that impressed the right poeple (even though the ad never got on made) and then was given a temporary job for 12 months of which I still have about 8 months to go.

Now I am in the enviable position of deciding on whether to continue on in the work force, as I am now entitled to seek employment in the public sector (very hard to get into, due to the high pay and little actual work involved  ) or go into University instead and study Programming (trying to specialise in C++), AI and Pure Maths (if I can get in) for the next 4-8 years in the hope that I will actually be able to code my own 3d graphics engine and AI afterwards. Of course, this all relies on me passing the entry exam with a high enough grade.

    So.... That's what I do.

    My history is:

    Leave school
    Telecoms engineer for 4 years
    Uni
    Programmer/Researcher (emergent techonologies)
    Systems Analyst

Since the phone engineer, my goal has been to get a job I'd be actively happy doing on a day-to-day basis. My current job is pretty close within my initial aims of:
    • Creative
    • Varied
    • Worthwhile
    • I'm good at it
    • Pay, etc is pretty good
but recently my perspective has changed a little, probably because of the slump. There are two aspects currently causig me some dis-satisfaction:
    • It's a desk job: I've recently begun to wonder whether manual labour wouldn't be healthier and have a more tangible degree of satisfaction.
    • Complex: there are too many people in computers and the Internet who don't know their arse from their elbow. Programmers just wanna hack. Clients want a web site without knowing why. Graphic designers insist on doing all their work the night before the deadline, and getting most of it wrong.

My best mate, who used to develop VB/Access systems and earn a damn large chunk of money at it, got cancer a year or so ago. He survived and is now well again, but it made him (and all the people aroud him) think pretty hard about quality of life RIGHT NOW, rather than building for the future.

He now runs a seaside cafe and only does a bit of part time Access work from home for his previous company. He's very happy.

I keep thinking I'm on the verge of doing the same thing.

i would tell my life story, but it would take up too much damn space. that, and it's depressing. and it's one of the three day with-holding subjects.

that's okay, most of us don't know what we want to be. even when we end up doing it.
