Something of a conundrum here, guys. Basically, I'm running Arcanum at 5940x1080, and having some major problems.

The wolves have a green outline.

Game is pretty much unplayable in this state. :x

Wow, that's an impressive resolution. I'm surprised that it works at all!

Strange that it's only the wolves, though. Are you running any other mods? Also, have you tried the -no3d option?

    Yes, stroke it!

Recently upgraded to an Eyefinity setup, and a friend of mine pointed out that the Hi-Res patch readme says it supports any resolution. Decided to put it to the test. :D
Oh yeah, this was *something* of a joke post. -no3d fixes the wolves, but it also runs at about 5 seconds per frame. -doublebuffer makes it run silky smooth, but with some heavy graphical issues I can't think of a name for, and I don't expect to be able to fix.

It was mainly just that the wolves having a green outline gave me justification to post here...

Well, -doublebuffer isn't compatible with the windowed mode, it produces numerous graphical glitches, as you have noticed.

That explains a lot. And it just plain refuses to run in fullscreen at this res. :D

Maybe I'll toy with it a bit.

This was a rather small scale project (a one man project, to be precise). Obviously, there's no performance data available.

Your system is about as old as the game itself, and I remember how badly the game lagged back in the day, even in 800x600, so I guess you can forget about higher resolutions.

Still, try the -no3d and/or -doublebuffer command line arguments, if you still haven't. You can also try a lower 16:9 resolution like 1280x720. How bad is your framerate?

The framerate oscillates between 45 and 70.

Also, I can play Arcanum in a 2001 64MB RAM notebook, I guess my PC can handle the Hi-Res patch.

Re: looks great. but am having problem will map scrollings

Having the same problem myself. REALLY want high resolution, but the game is essentially unplayable if I can't travel.

That button acted like that in the original resolution as well. It's possible to use it to move the map in all directions if you twist your mouse enough, BUT pretty much nobody actually uses it, as you can simply touch the edges of the screen to scroll the map (the same way you scroll the screen during the gameplay) or you can just use the arrow keys.

LMAO I didn't know I could travel around the map using the arrow keys, I always use the mouse it's easier and more practical.

    Hi there.

I'm playing Arcanum with High Res.

It made a problem that scroll range is too short.

So i run Arcanum with this command. "-scrolldist:0"

but NPC is inactive away from PC.

    I'm felling bad with this.

Is there any way to increase range active object?

or Is there any way to increase scroll range? (not infinity)

    Thanks for great job.

PS. I'm sorry for bad english because english is not my first language.

    What resolution are you running?

The "active" range is 31 tiles away from the player character. Should be enough under the most circumstances.

No need to spam this message on 3 threads dude.

NPCs will be inactive anyway, it's a speed optimization in the game engine so it won't slow to a standstill simulating every single character in Arcanum and beyond. Just deal with it.

    Hi Drog.

    I'm running with 1680x1050.

Yes, it's enough for play but feel bad when see inactive npc...

I will make 62tiles or more if possible:)
