There is a bit of speculation about this, not sure whether or not they are changing domains or shutting down to reopen with a broader selection ie. New games as well.

To be fair, there's a few goodies on there, but I clearly want to be banned, given my suggesting torrenting as a viable solution.

UpinSmoke: If I remember correctly torrents has murdered Arcanum and some other games.

I am not sure or convinced that they really stopped, (they are too succesful for that.) but perhaps the best thing to do is to wait. Sierra Chest forum is down as well.

I've heard that GOG is getting a major overhaul and maybe even a client like Steam.

Don't quote me on this, though.

I understand the viewpoints of a few people here, that doesn't mean I share those viewpoints. If your telling me I must conform to your "viewpoints", then your a cunt. Simple as that. Who gave you any power anyway? Your a fucking joke.

Or that this is a private forum where users are allowed to stay at the whims of the people in charge of maintaining it. If you don't like the viewpoints (i.e. rules) that you're forced to abide by, then why do you keep coming back.

DarkElf gave him power. And I think it was Dark_Underlord who gave DarkElf power. Could be wrong though, he's been admin since I started here.

I am offended by this. I know the difference between "you're" and "your".

    Uh, I mean, whose Lukan?

    (intentional whose)

The front page for GOG confirms it now.

This saddens me, as it made me happy to know that people were still playing these awesome games, but I never actually DLed any of the older ones myself.

Maybe that attitude is why the site went down....

I DLed Evil Genius off their site once. Paid $10. Later, they deleted my account for no reason whatsoever, thus stealing my money.

Good riddance, imo, we'll find the old classics elsewhere (Bloodlines is offered on Steam, for example).

A lot of people seem to be drawing the conclusion that this is a publicity stunt to launch version 1.0 (gog was still in beta, after all.)

They back up their conclusion with the fact that the announcement uses terms like "keep GOG.com the way it is" and "GOG simply cannot remain in its current form." That and the fact there will be a way for members to download their stuff, like maybe a new site.

Combine that with them posting a new flashy video to thank people for their support? The marketing ploy argument is getting convincing.
