Probably, I don't have 7 deadlocks on my back door for nothing.

For a quick escape, no doubt.

When I lived in Tasmania, I could have done with a few more locks on my door.

Locks are often fairly useless since most doors sit on rather weak frames. It doesn't really matter that you have a lock not even seasoned KGB veterans could pick when the prospective burglar could just use a crowbar and wrench out the door itself.

Funny you should say that Dark Elf because my door frame was actually ripped off. Luckly it was a rental and prefurnished, I only lost my television.

On the advice (and connection help) from my neighbor, here's a little something I put together over the weekend:

Absolutely brilliant! Good way to make us of that clunky development inventory screen.

Five MA and a gun though? Ouch.

How did you put this together? Did you use some sort of program or was this all done by hand? Would it happen to be a background .exe wrapper or somesuch?

That's truly amazing. It makes me jealous, even with my stylish use of negative space in my desktop theme.

Probably not an exe wrapper, there's a couple of applications that create an overlay for the desktop (Windows has had built in support for that kind of thing for ages - think it's called ActiveDesktop?).

One such app I used to use: http://www.samurize.com/modules/news/

But, brilliant desktop rroyo (I like the name in particular - tessla coil??), good to see you around here again

Nice Rroyo. Made me fire up a Tess LaCoyle of my own today since it has been a while since I played a female character. Unfortunately she and Virgil were mauled by a bear on their way back to the Crash Site from Arballah's House at level 4.

Created a bunch of characters with a similar naming concept. We have Tess LaCoyle - the deceased technomage; Ayrel LeMentalist - Human Female mage with air, force, white necro; Rang Ermage - Male Elf Ranger with melee, bow, natu re; E. Vilmage - Male Dwarf mage with force, black necro, fire; Sol Diering - Male Halfling soldier with melee, dodge, persuasion, firearms, gamble; Sly Tof'and - Male Gnome Rogue with prowling, throwing, pick pocket, phantasm, pick locks; Mekkan Ical Smith - Male Half Elf technologist with mechanical, smithy, melee.

Not really sure which one I want to play first...

RunAwayScientist: Charonte as accurate as to what I used - Active Desktop. This is just a hand-made wallpaper with spaces for a clock, calendar, and a Sysmetrix.

Forget that other picture - here's the real-deal:

If I can ever get the needles on the guages to quit floating in mid-air while they're in the middle of the dial I'll see if anyone wants the SysMetrix.
And yes, everything below Tess' stats and the Winamp is functional.

I particularly like the use of the Arcanum time-of-day indicator. Does it actually rotate from day to night in accordance with the actual time of day?

Not that it's anywhere near as clever as Rroyo's, but I got bored the other day and thought I'd give it a shot with OpenBox and a GTK theme.

Sorta worked, but I still need to fix the fonts on the Conky script along with a couple of small bugs in the theme:
