Sure, there are female dwarves, but the thing is that they are rather shy about their gender. Many male dwarves had embarrassing moments, when they did not know the sex of their partner.

Tis true, Dwarf courtship is mostly just an awkward attempt to find out what's under the other's chainmail.

I take offence to this question.

Perhaps there are no male/female dwarves, but only dwarves. They might be keeping a secret =o

Oh, and please don't double post, especially when your total message consists of two smileys and a single word.

I think there are but a few, who openly show that they are female, by wearing dresses, make-up, and braids in their beards. Therefore, that means that the male has to ask embarrassing questions to find out the gender of their lover.

Moved this to where it belongs.

Not wasting paper perhaps, but well our patience.

Ahem. It's not that I won't keep that in mind or anything, but it's you who should really worry if your patience is affected by an additional scroll down the page.

What is bothering is that every single post has to end up being filled with fights and remarks.

According to Byron Hall, they're being gangraped by the male dwarves.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura features only male Dwarves, and asking one about Dwarven women is taboo, tantamount to insulting him. The game's manual hints that the reason for this is that the birth of a female Dwarf is a rare event, with Dwarven men outnumbering the women 2-to-1, and Dwarven women are pregnant with their children for up to ten years, during which time their health is greatly at risk. Dwarven culture, therefore, requires that female Dwarves spend almost all of their lives concealed from the outside world, for their own safety.

Interesting. Forgot to add in the initial post that the subject of female dwarves is avoided in many, if not all, related fantasy materials. Hence, my initial choice of posting in general discussion was to find out the 'general' what happened to...

After a staggering fourteen posts that managed to stay on-topic, I have come to derail your thread.

    1) Slightly off-topic: Xz: I refuse to acknowledge 75% of what that bleeding hack John Beddoes publishes.

    2) Massively off-topic: Alessandro: Sarmizegetusa? As in the capital of Dacia?

    ...?

Yes however D&D have always given female dwarves a face what from I remember, luckily Arcanum doesn't fall under that world.

I like this quote. I forget where it's from, but it's a good one.

I personally think that everyone has it backwards: Dwarves are actually all female, they just claim masculinity to keep people from trying to sleep with them. They reproduce by raping gnomes.

Judging from the few actual pictures of dwarf women I found on google that weren't just midget versions of our favorite porn stars, I'd have to go with the assumption that dwarf women are actually mingled nicely in dwarven society but the males, being male, are too embarassed to admit to outsiders (who have a pseudo-Victorian view on womens role in society) that their women are in fact the de-facto masters.
