I have never played ANY modules for arcanum that actually work. ALL of them, even Vormantown crash about 5 minutes into gameplay. And I`ve tried them all. My PC isn`t THAT outdated: Pentium 4, 400mhz motherboard I believe.

Are you absolutely sure you're running a fresh patched install ? If so, try copying the install files from the hard drive and reinstalling from there.

Try deleting all the maps and protos.

However if the main arcanum module is working, I don't see why other modules wouldn't. Try setting arcanum to play a certian module, start a new game, then close it and restart the computer. That way on the next startup, you'll be sure that only that module was loaded (no cached data from other modules will be in memmory).

If that won't help, blame it on the computer, defrag, scan for viruses, reinstall windows...

If you're running XP, and you're running a 400mhz, you're severely behind on times.

My ancient laptop is around 400 MHz and runs on Win98, and Arcanum simply isn't playable on that machine. The conversation at the Crash Site took some five minutes to get through, and my character moved with the terrific speed of continents.

So Howard, at this point, we must simply ask the question of: what're the stats on your pc?

Compaq Evo D510 Ultra-Slim Desktop with Pentium 4 1.9 GHz CPU, 512MB Memory, 30GB HDD,

Clearly not a gaming PC but Arcanum is an old game.

That should be more than enough to run Arcanum with.

Are you patched, and are you running several mods at once?

Running several mods at once has been known to create conflicts, which could be the reason why your game is always crashing. If nothing else works, try a clean install with no mods whatsoever and see if that works for you.

Is this the 2.0 version? If so, get rid of it!
It was nothing but bugs and glitches from one end to the other.

Also - Regarding A:WIP and mods, only the 2.0 and 4.0 versions have a conflict.

I misunderstood your question: no only WIP2 is installed as a mod.

haha, yeah it is WIP2. Do I lose all the saves I have under this patch? What should I do now? I don`t mind losing my saves that much.

OK - That's what I was afraid of.

So - You will lose all your saves - there's been too many changes since 2.0 came out.

Here's what you do: Completely uninstall what you've got now, and start fresh. New install, patch with the 1.0.7.4, then go here for the installation instructions and download link of the latest version - 4.4:

I've already found out that it's compatable with up to four mods. Beyond that, you're in uncharted territory. :p

are there any other good mods I can add that give me more towns and quests? Are there any that give you a larger map?

Main game hacks: A:WIP, Car-Arcanum, and Arcanum 1.5 (Russian).
If there's another one out there, I haven't heard of it.

BTW: A:WIP and Car-Arcanum are currently tied for the number of new locations to play in - 18. Car-Arcanum still is way ahead in number of things to do.
I really don't know too much about the Russian one beyond they've modified a few stock towns and added three new areas.

Stand-alone mods: They all give you 1 - 4 towns - using the term loosely.

Larger map: So far, Arcanum still has the biggest world map.

Is it possible to have Car Arcanum and WIP4 installed and working at the same time.

    Not on the same install.

You can however, do an install, create a new folder on the drive - call it Car-Arcanum, copy the contents of the Sierra/Arcanum folder (including Data and Modules folders) into the newly-created one and then install A:WIP to one and Car-Arcanum to the other.
