I guess now they just need to make some games that would make it worth buying.

Or drop the price more. I just can't justify dropping over $500 for a system and an addictional $50 for each game. My PC cost less than a PS3 and can convincingly run the same games. Plus I can crank out spread sheets on it. That's right. Spread sheets, sonuvabitch.

Blu-ray was a better idea from the start, as it has nearly double the capacity of HD-DVD. Also, at least Blu-ray had an original name and a logo that doesn't munch scrotum.

On the other hand, Blu-ray costs a good deal more to make.

Too bad Sony refused to cooperate about merging the formats and creating an even better format.

Of course they did. Sony's angsty and bitchy. They don't want to 'merge' they want to stuff their crap down our throats at high prices.

    [p.s: I hate Sony]

I'm just glad it's settled down to one format so everyone can get on with their HD lives. This should lead to costs being driven down faster as well.

They also want to trick you into believing you're buying a quality piece of technology only to have it break on you for just breathing on it a month later.

They're also Japanese. That's reason enough to hate them.

I don't understand, does this mean I can no longer watch new movies on my Xbox (or, rather, on the Xboxes of people I mooch off of, since I play a Wii)?

The next question is, who was actually using their Xbox as a DVD player anyways? I can just as easily buy a DVD player for 1/5th the cost of the PS3, and I'll probably enjoy the games on it better, too.

You can play games on your DVD player? What games are these? Or were you refering to your Xbox when you said "it?"
And a simple DVD player these days would probably cost you only $50 or $60 at cheap outlet stores like a Big Lots or Value City. It's quickly fading technology so prices should be dropping fast to get rid of acumulating backstock.

Grakelin, HD DVD and Blu-ray were the 2 technologies set up to succeed DVD a PS3 can play Blu-rays and if you went and spent another $150 you got an add on for the 360mthat played HD DVDs.

But HD DVD has been dropped by all the companies that were backing it so Blu-ray is the next generation video format. But it really only matters if the source material was fimed in Hi-Def and you have an HD capable TV which I don't since I want one of the increasingly rare HD CRTs.

That's what I was thinking, if you're not gonna go plasma atleast get a LCD. CRT is to LCD is what black & white is to colour.
