I "think" you can do it by stealing and reading his journal from the room north of the room where he hangs out in.

But that's close enough to meeting him that you might as well meet him.

So I guess there's no way to beat it without even going in the mansion?

I don't know what would happen if you forced the BMC mines. Give it a try if you're that insistent.

    You use Linux?

I have no idea what Linux even is  :/

Anyways, my character is an elf who hates dwarves so much that he kills them on sight... so BMC wouldnt really help =/

Well, you could go kill Stringy Pete and steal his boat and force Tanathos.

The thing about that, is that it's impossible to get to Stringy Pete before you meet Teach in the bar in Black Root. I've tried to go to the exact coordinates and it leads you to an area near him where you can't move.

Well, you need to go to an area close to the exact coordinates, then you need to walk quite a lot manually, then you'll find a row boat which will take you to Stringy Pete, if I recall correctly that is.

With me, I always had to go down to the coastline, then - as a rule - follow it to the right for several screens before I'd find the dinghy.
Once you find the boat, not a problem.
