Does the dog count as a follower or can I have him in my party and still have my other 3 followers?

The dog it's the question I'm interested in now. I've heard that it's not counts as an additional follower concerning the number of followers depending on your charisma. But where it is??? I'm going through the game the second time. Now I'm in Ashbury, but I didn't meet any dogs there (nor first time, nor now). Is there any special circumstances under which you may meet the dog?

You have to get to the dog right when you first enter Ashbury. There's a gnome kicking him outside of the Inn, and if you don't get to him in time, the gnome kills him.

Dog does not count. You can have up to 15 followers max.

How can you get the dog? the gnome doesn't really listen to my complaints and in the end I always need to kill him. What do you need to do to get him to listen to you.

    hmmmm

I think this had been answered in a post called "A DOG?! LOL" or something. It has something to do with menacing and scaring the little gnome. btw worthless mutt kicks arse, he's like a really fast brute fang and is not counted as a follower.

    hmmmmm.

Maybe it's something to do with your race. You can pay, but to get him free, you've got to be a half-orc or half-ogre high intelligence or something? Then menace and scare him.

I hope it's not too late to say "Thanks". I found the dog at last and I like it very much. Very nice dog, almost so nice as my (real, not virtual) dog.
