Moved it to Arcanum discussion because I was feeling generous, please read the forum descriptions.

I think this is more modding and scripting math.

I never did, some people have tried. It would be, like, a fucking bitch.

But would it work? I mean, some quests are one-man-only jobs, and what about the masters?

Those all aren't the problem. The problems are:
    A. Load times. Obviously, it's really fucking big.
    B. The maps. Multiplayer can't facilitate a map change. In regular Arcanum different places are on different maps for organization and to speed the loading of a certain screen when the others aren't needed. No need to be loading the Tarant Sewers when you're going to a dwarven mine.
    C. The world map. Overland travel fast forwards the game. In multiplayer the game must display the same time for all players. So no overland travel. Or ship or train travel for that matter, as they also affect time.
    D. Sleep. Again a time issue. The players won't be able to rest.
