I just started a new character, a halfling thief which i want to incline to a negative aligment.Problem is, his motivations as in rolepalying are something i can't define. For example, I can steal anything i want form the shopkeepers. Then why should I need to loot the dungeons, caverns, or pickpocket people?I have everything I need at my disposal.Geee, sound like I'm a God.

What could be the motivations in life for such a character?

Greed. You can steal almost anything you want, but not everything you want.

Yes, that could be something to look forward to in life for a negative aligned character.

My other options would be commiting generally the most harm to the world(but i'm saving that for an evil dark mage which sold his soul to a demon 8) ) or maxing out your skills.Any other ideas?

Boredom. If you're character is thinking of himself like a god of thievery he obviously can't be havin too much trouble surviving. He might adventure out of the desire to, while he certainly won't die, being so skillful and great, at least challenge himself.

Good point, altough he has some trouble surviving.Do you know any followers that would join a negatively aligned thief in the begining of the game?I'm really new to this bad role-playing thing in Arcanum.

Virgil will, you can nab Geoffrey in Ashbury, think you need to be like 9, other than that I don't know.

Oh, what the fuck am I talking about, you can get Damien Kel too.

Damien Kel is a skeleton of the first Molochean Hand leader I believe. And Virgil goes evil with you if he's in your party. Evil Virgil is kinda fun.

Same difference, they sound alike. You do realize how long it's been since I played an evil character right?

Perhaps, but you really shouldn't mislead the n00bs like that. There are ethical concerns, you know.

Nah, Torian's in between Tarant and Ashbury, in a dungeon somewhere. He's a skeleton atm.

Torian Kel is in the Ancient Temple, Vollinger is also an evil character to get early in the game though his strength and speed suck.

If you have two follower spots though I would get Vollinger just to fill out the remaining spot since Worthless Mutt/Dog doesn't require a follower spot to join you.

As for roleplaying of a thief, I can easily steal objects in cities but it takes a "true asshole" to steal from the dead. So loot those ancient dwarven/elvish/human ruins to your heart's content and give the ancestors of modern races a great big "Fuck You".

I was just gonna say - he's the 'god' of thieves, so he adventures to prove to the competition that he is in charge, and if you fuck with him he'll blow their fucking skulls off.

As for evil... Virgil, Geoffrey, Z'an (love her), Torian Kel, Vollinger... Can't think of any more off the top of my head.

Here's a challenge for a god of thieves, what can and can't be done while using prowl.

Can you assassinate the king of Dernholm without his guards attacking you?

Can you sneak through the ancient maze without being attacked?

Those are a few examples, one I really enjoyed trying was lock picking on the door into Bate's bedroom while Chukka and the other guards patrolled in the hallway ... which by the way is possible.

My favourite challenge is getting through the Bangellian Scourge's resting place on your own with:

    1. No more than 2 levels and Apprentice in any combat-related skill.
    2. Without using any spells higher than second level.
    3. Without using any schematic higher than third level (not counting weapon or armor).

    It's hard, but fun.

Lately I have been taking my groups to the Vendigroth Ruins at level twenty with the game difficulty set on hard. It comes down to strategy over power but getting Droch's Warbringer at such a low level is worth it.
