First and foremost I wish to thank Canis, the Living One. May he reign forever and his powers never fail.

I use spybot and rather like it. I got it with some other Panicware products. The panicware pop-up blocker works quite good, although I do not know why my wifey choose to pay for it when we could have found a free one.

I shall have to check out thid firefox you are so fond of Canis. Like I said am virtually a incompetent fool at the computer in terms of how do most things other than surf the web adn post to forums :p :)

btw - click the pic and check the link, not a bad one for browser based

Firefox is mozilla... Isn't that why it's called Mozilla Firefox?

That's like saying Netscape is the same as Mozilla or Firefox as they share the same basic engine. There's varying degrees of bloat and functionality here, and Firefox is the least bloated of them all.

Internet Explorer works on my computer at home, I assume the problem has something to do with a trojan, or some fucked up pop-up dependncy. Either way, I didn't solve the problem by restoring any essential files, I "fixed" the problem by restoring the spyware... So now whenever I start up my computer I spend about 10 minutes turning off all the crap I know how to turn off, and my computer still has hourly bouts of chuggage when online. Its not a huge problem, just an annoying one.

I'd have reformatted the hard drive by now, but its my parents computer, and even though my mom practically opens the door for trojans by opening every friggin e-mail she recieves on Outlook, even though I keep telling her how easy it would be to get a god damn hotmail account... Plus my parents would probably blame me for the spyware anyway. <screams> I just need to get out of this madhouse.

Given the choice between adware and paying $39... I'd choose Firefox.

You don't have to pay anything.. All you have is a small banner in the upper right hand corner that's supposed to annoy you or something. Well, it doesn't.

If you LIKE adware, more power to you. I don't. There are enough ads in our lives already without it being embedded in our software as well.

Yeah, someone should do an adware version of Suggestion by fugazi... That would be awesome.

Do I like adware? I've made of hobby out of removing spyware and other junk. And I don't consider a small banner in the corner adware.

Not to belabor the point but.... Okay, so to belabor the point, that sounds like the very definition of adware. It doesn't stop being adware because you don't mind it. It's not that small of a banner either: it appears to be the standard ad banner size, which can definitely take up a worthy chunk of your screen.

Well, it is free, so the producers need compensation.

Neither your acceptance nor the necessity of making a profit stop it from being adware. I don't begrudge them trying to make money and I don't care about their excuses; I simply do not like the idea of adware especially as there are other perfectly free, ad-less, and functional browsers out there.

Pop ups wouldnt be so annoying if I only got 1 or 2 of them every once in a while, but when they install tracking cookies, and shit like that in your computer thats an invasion, and when you get mauled by 17 porn pop ups when you're 15 and trying to find "warez" like a little idiot on the alta-vista search engine and your mom walks in on you frantically closing a gif of britney spears' head super imposed on a model getting sodomized by some muscle man you start to form a grudge against pop ups...

Just go search for warez on alta vista. This incident was a year or two ago, and the pop up was one of hundreds.
