This'll really sort out who are the Top Gear fans and/or Australians of this forum... I'm thinking of auditioning for Top Gear Australia. My brother's opinion is that if Clarkson, Hammond and May can do it, so can I - all I need to do is to give my opinion on what is a good drive, say "brum! brum!" every now and again, and make a little bit of research to brush up on my lingo. I opt to promote the 'fanatical common sense' shpiel - common sense as in buying a Getz is far more economical than a Kingswood; fanatical as in WHO THE F*CK BUYS A GETZ WHEN THERE'S A KINGSWOOD TO BE HAD??? I'd post an audition video here but I have dial-up and it will take too f*cking long... and I haven't made it yet. I've got a fair idea what I could do for the video, but I'd like a few opinions on things. Whaddya think? --Piper
Well, as long as you have the charisma that Clarkson and Hammond have, you should be all right. I'm not entirely convinced it would be as funny with a female host though... Half the fun is the fact that they're male and play right into the stereotypes.
Ha ha, they're made in Korea! But, yeah, go for it. Though I doubt I'll see Australia's broadcast, considering I only get England's Top Gear (we haven't caught on in America).
By all means try out, but I'm personally of the opinion its going to be a one season show. Why bother watching some knock off when I can watch the original? The only reason SBS is doing this is so they can meet the requirements each network has to show a certain level of 'local content' the guidelines of what local actually is are pretty vague, something made in New Zealand is okay and a redubbed show is apparently okay hence that absolutely horrific version of Mythbusters with the Australian voice over.
Should I be a boyish-girl, or a girly-girl? I don't think anyone else in the world could understand our humour anyways - whereas British humour is quite universal (is there a pun in there...?) But anyway... it's a rather short-lived dream, as I've just discovered that I'd have to move across the country for filming (which will clash with my commitments), and there are loads of things I must do before I do a huge move like that. Still, if I have the chance, I'll post the audition video... when I get around to it. Thanks for the support! --Piper
Yes, pics. Should I find out that you're the hostess with the mostest on Top Gear Australia, and end up watching the show online via Youtube, I want to find out it's not just personality. Because I'm odd like that.
Come on, you want all of Oz to see you on the telly yet you refuse to give us the visual aid we so badly need to give you professional advice on the appropriate level of tomboyishness? Reconsider!
The anomynity of the net is a wonderful thing. And even so, there is a certain amount of professionalism involved. It's the difference between wearing a pant-suit and a blouse-and-jeans get up. The real question is whether a female host (who sort of looks like your mom on a good day) would appeal to viewers. My breif stint in publicity already caused some leering. Besides... it's too soon for my own avatar... --Piper
Wha---? Huh? :???: And DE... What's the matter with you? Why are you asking for pictures all the time? Where's your mistress?
