Obligatory troll thread goes here. Actual review/developed opinions will follow after I've had time to fucking play it some more. At the moment: It's bloody brilliant.
it sux I'm just kidding. It's actually a real improvement on the first one, which had boring (and limiting) gameplay but a captivating lore. This one is both exciting and... Relatively cool what with the lore.
Either you make a heavy attack (RMB) or a light attack (LMB). Heavy attacks can be interrupted, light do less damage. You can block with E, but that takes vigor (More or less your regular stamina/mana-pool). Use silver swords for monsters and steel weapons for humanoids (Human, elves, dwarfs). Thing is, if you meet more than three enemies, it's fucking hard. Especially in the beginning.
Yep. That is probably one of the reasons this game is considered harder than The Witcher. You can get a special ability which allows you to deal splash damage, but only if you choose the swordsmanship tree. Oh, and they've changed the skill tree. You don't level up separate skills (Aard, light attacks...) but instead follow three branches: Magic, Alchemy and Swordsmanship. At the end of thses branches you'll find skills that let you generate adrenaline. Adrenaline can be use to preform special attacks (Instantly kills three opponents as a swordsman, for instance). You'll also find some skills that you can mutate, using mutagens. Mutagens can be found on monsters. You can even sell those, which I find rather odd. I've never met a blacksmith in real life that wants to buy genes. I'm also amazed that Geralt manage to keep track on where he put all those genes.
IIRC merchants would be picky about what they bought in the original Witcher and I'm sure giving Geralt the equivalent of Arcanum's expert Haggle is a concession to the console crowd. Please tell me that I've interpreted your picture wrongly and that one is not restricted to just one tree for each playthrough...
Yeah, sorry about that. You can spend you points as you will, except that you must spend your 5 first points in Witcher Training (The small, upper branch).
