Have you got the 'hide file extensions for files of known type' box checked on in your explorer settings? If so, then it won't show the .txt bit and you can end up renaming files badly. Just check off this box so all file extensions are show and this makes renaming file types much easier.

File is now .dlg, but in arcanum, smithy doesn't talk.

Wel, they're the only two problems I found. The dlg and scr files. All I can say is you haven't quite fixed it right. Check them over again and make sure. Keeping in mind that the first time you said the filename was ".dlg" and it wasn't. Also, make the script with SockMonkey, not with any other program. The other programs DO NOT WORK (well, all the others except DjUniques).

But now, when I click that dialog file, there reads: DLG-file.

Good. That's what they both say on my computer too.

What program did you use to make the script?

Well, as per my original post on the previous page:
    http://www.terra-arcanum.com/phpBB/view ... 9024#49024

It sounds as if the script is now fixed. Grant Davies scriptmaker can't handle numbers. So if in SockMonkey, the script says:
    0. Dialog 1
    1. Return and Skip Default

It should be fine. Which means the only other problem is the name of the dialogue file. Are you absolutely, 110% certain that the name of the file is:
    "00001Dwarven_Smithy.dlg"

Nothing more, nothing less. Not "00001Dwarven_Smithy.txt" or "00001Dwarven_Smithy.txt.dlg" or "00001Dwarven_Smithy.dlg.txt" or any other variation, but is "00001Dwarven_Smithy.dlg".

If it is, then your smithy should be talking. If it's not, e-mail me the dialogue file. Just the dialogue file only and I'll check.

I'm not sure. I made them both again, and then the smithy talks.
