    Hi guys!

    Today I found an awesome Russian Arcanum fansite with a very active modding community. They have an expansion pack which is called Arcanum 1.5 expansion, but it's all in Russian language. What's more interesting, though in Russian language as well, is the so called Grand Fix (version 1.3 now with some minor small fixes/additions, still developing) which does a lot of bugfixing and balancing as well as some other stuff. They seem to be very advanced in fixing stuff, for instance they fixed the hushed pistol, so the flag is set to quiet (whatever those weird flag things are...) replaced the sound and changed the damage value. Another example would be a fix of the dark helmet (I guess now it doesn't lower your alignment multiple times for multiple uses). They also added all unfinished schematics, replaced graphics, added new schematics etc. etc.

    Maybe someone wants to register at their forum and ask for an english translation? Or install the mod and have a look on the changes (I don't have Arcanum installed at the moment). Maybe we could translate it ourselves, if we just need to replace some stuff in the description.mes and so on.

    Have a look on the big readme for installation instructions and a very detailed list of all changes made. Could be interesting for you modders as well, looking for some special changes as they also added new scripts or altered old ones.

    If you wish I could post the whole translated version of the readme so anybody interested could read it here right away.

    ah, I'd like a crack at the TOOLS they are using to mod besides worldED. If they have cracked the proto code, it could save me some headaches I still have to face down the road.... mainly overcoming the ISMECHANICAL flag which prevents weilding weapons, interacting for inventory, mutes, prevents pickpockets, and so on. The med spider got around this somehow using the med spider heal scroll to do its job. But heck yeah, I found a free webpage translation site

    Art2bmp
    Converting files *. art in *. bmp. Unfortunately, mnogofreymovy *. art odnofreymovyh converted into a set of pictures. The same applies to reverse the procedure.     PortraitProccessor
    Automated Program for creating portraits. The English language version.

    D3DWindower.
    Through D3DWindower Arcanum can run in a window. Works well as Fallout, Planescape: Torment, and a bunch of other games. The English version (translated from the Japanese, and not transferred to the end, and some commands are described characters, but you can use).

    Arcanum Facades
    This is not a program and not manual. Just Directory facades, moddinga benefit. All facades, with the numbers and images. Very convenient. In view editor facades impossible (very small images). And fantastic long-view. Facades look Arcanum. Description in English, but it does not need. All very understandable. Authorship-in materials.

    Yet another edit: THEY FIGURED OUT HOW TO MAKE MULTI-IMAGE .ART FILES!!!!!
    At least they were able to add more fonts with all the symbols!
    I've downloaded their copy of BMP2ART and I'm gonna check this out.

    Their BMP2ART works just the same as ours - one picture only - so it must be one of the other art programs.

    Edit: Disregard what I said. The font files I found in the 1.5 are the same as what's in the Arcanum1.dat.
    I should have gone looking a bit more before I jumped the gun.

    Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up.

    I have installed the Grand Fix and it worked very well, it even includes a no CD-patch which is very comfortable, but everything is converted to Russian language, even the titles of the starting screen. So I have no hope that this thing ever gets translated to English.

    The other thing I tried out was the Schedit, the schematic editing program. It didn't work for me because you need a bunch of files dealing with schematics undatted and I still haven't learned how to do that :???: So I had some loading errors when starting the program.
    If it is working, you can create a schematic by choosing a name, an art file (you can browse through all existing schematic art files and choose the one you wish), selecting component one and component two (which includes almost all items: food, weapons, armor etc.) and by selecting the result of course (and its amount). I guess the program is editing the mes files and attaching the chosen art and so on. Ah, and if I remember correctly you could choose the discipline the schematic should be and even if it should be a found or learned schematic.

    It also has 1,427 protos inside the Arcanum4.dat - which I couldn't get to work.
    And there's the Level 127 hack - without the Arcanum.exe.....
    Again - I couldn't get it to work (alone).

    On the plus side - there's some really cool rings and statues in the artwork.

    As often as not, you start with the unclothed figures and give them attire.
    Although they may remain unclothed when viewed in WorldEd, the clothing is applied in the game.
