I'm really annoyed with the pop up adds on this site and i'm wondering if anyone agrees here? One rather amusing pop up was advertising for a program that gets rid of pop ups! bah! Sometimes I'd have 5 or 6 pop ups at any given time! I hope for this post to be a sort of online petition, so feel free to blow off steam...

I don't have too much trouble with popups since I use Netscrape 7, with a built in popup killer.

IE may be a hair more reliable, or at least more supported, but it's horrendous when it comes to pop ups, and allowing adware and transmitting personal info.

    Pop ups are obnoxious. Period.

But remember, Calis is paying for this site out of pocket, so unless you want to help him pay for this site, I wouldn't complain.

There is a surprisingly simple solution to the whole problem that requires almost no effort on your part.

Simply use the subsilver colour scheme. The pop-ups aren't embedded in that and since changing I've never had a single pop-up. :)

Gods, what an absolutely boring scheme that is. Good for less powerful computers I'd imagine. I'll stick with the Terra-Arcanum scheme m'self.

On some days the popups are horrible, but on days, like today, there are none at all.

And I don't like SubSilver much. I much prefer the default skin.

You know, Jar, I don't know what you have against me, but let's duke it out in Private Messages instead of making a skepticle of ourselves in public.

Is that anything at all like a creamsicle?

On a side note it may not just be the site. Try googling up "Ad Aware" it could be embedded stuff in your computer that came along with files. Kazaa is noted for this.

There's only one every 4-5 pages here, so I'll live.
Calis is paying for all this?
Dang....cheers for him then, he deserves it!

No one is paying for anything, it's called FREE HOSTING.
That's why we have the pop outs.

You know, I would rather that this take place in a specially designed thread, so I could read it.

At the risk of sounding stupid (which I suppose I already have), I thought that Calis paid for this...?

Paid for what exactly? Hosting? If it were so, we wouldn't have them popouts now would we? Imagine hosting that you would have to pay for, AND get popouts with it. How many people would actually pay for that?

They are having this board hosted by Gamesquad, as you can see from the logo beside the banner ad. They have been "revamping" their site for nearly a year. Now it links to OptiGamer. Did they change their name, go out of buisness, or what?

If you're getting slammed by popups and, even worse, "Would you like to install Gator?" popups, then check your browser settings. Once you've been "popped", you should be pop-up free for a while. I think it's something like 6 hours, but don't hold me to that. It's a while, I do know that.

Besides switching themes, you can make sure you're accepting cookies and that you're logged in. Other than that, get a good popup stopper or run your browser through a proxy like Proxomitron.

It's actually a fairly common insult in Australia. There's quite a few insults revolving around the use of shit. Common usage is "Good one, deadshit," when someone's fucked up.

Who, me? But I'm so loveable!

That would be eloquent. But then, I'm SURE you knew that already.
