And I enjoy making up different personas. A grumpy, overweight ogre with dental issues was a good pick, I think.

I don't fancy revealing my real name/age/biographical info/photos/etc on the internet, so I create different characters and have fun with them. I had several accounts on the Codex, all with different personalities and posting styles.

This is basically called 'roleplaying'. I'm not sure why this concept is hard for you to grasp.

I have no trouble grasping the concept, only the severe inability to cope in social situations, especially on the internet where we are already almost totally anonymous. You're showcasing a certain level of cowardice by using puppets and trying to pass your views off as belonging to a fictional entity.

I study theatre. It doesn't take long to grasp the idea that it's no longer 'roleplaying' if the character is literally just you. In hobby roleplaying that most internet forum-goers are well familiar with, there is a commonly held belief that losing yourself in your characters is a sign of mental instability. This is especially true if you are the only one doing the roleplaying.

Theatre students can make psychological evaluations now?

They are getting desperate to prop up the health system.

Is Sacha Baron Cohen really Borat? Would he use 'I' when talking about Borat's views out of character?

Morelike trying to diagnose mental illnesses in other internet users is a sign of narrow-mindedness and/or a poor trolling attempt.

No, Sacha Baron Cohen is not really Borat. However, Sacha Baron Cohen is a character actor in the same vein as other noted entertainers like Stephen Colbert. The difference between what Cohen and Colbert do, and what you do, is that Cohen and Colbert have a purpose behind developing personae beyond just distancing themselves from their own beliefs. They have adapted these beliefs in order to further their political messages. At no point are Borat or Colbert (the character) meant to be taken seriously. In stark contrast, you used your persona to distance yourself from your own actions. You were not trying to convey any sort of meaning. You were just trolling.

You can not use your personae to cover for any nasty things you have said or done. Perhaps you could if you were deliberately being facetious or aiming for comedic effect like Cohen or Colbert. Unfortunately, Drog Black Tooth said things that made him out to be an asshole. There was nothing particularly amusing about it. Acting like an asshole, whether you are in a persona or not, is still acting like an asshole, and it is still you.

To those who questioned my post based on my qualifications, I should point out that the idea of losing yourself in a character being a psychologically detrimental thing is something you learn fairly early on. This is pretty basic stuff. So basic, that it occasionally leaks out into the public circle. I'm surprised you haven't heard of it before. Not only is it bad for your health as a person, it's detrimental to the performance as a whole. It would be nice if this wasn't the case, because then we could all follow along with Stanislavski's style and the profession would suddenly become very easy. Sadly, trying to actually be the character causes you to just act like you, if you were the character. If you don't believe me, watch some biopic films. Note down which ones are good and which ones suck. Keep track of who (if anybody) is actually remarkably similar to the real person.

I do find it interesting that a person who has admit to puppeting and attempting to post with a personality dissimilar to his own is accusing me of trolling, though.

Oh, look, we got our own internet psychiatrist. Please, by all means, entertain us some more!

Just so you know, I'm not trying to 'accomplish' anything with my 'puppeting', I'm done with Arcanum. I'm posting here simply out of boredom and you so happen to brighten my day.

Well, since you directly admit to being a troll, I suppose no further comment need be applied. I won't even argue with your random cries of "Oh god, he thinks I'm mentally unstable for actively pretending to be someone else, too bad he has no qualifications!", since that's obviously just troll pandering as well.

But yeah, so long and thanks for all the fish.

    To quote Captain Kirk: Bullshit.

We're not the ones being dicks here. You are. We asked a simple question and you're loading us with psuedo-philosophical bullshit instead of giving us a straight answer. It's annoying and it's crukking rude too. When someone asks you a yes or no question, you have three answers.

    1. Yes.
    2. No.
    3. Fuck off.

    Pick an answer.

Not into cartoons banging, especially not gay ones. I find spankwire does the job.
