Anyone here read Latin and feel confident enough to translate a poem for me? Libellus Ecce: ego sum et multi unum. Ego serpentes et serpentes multi. Mea culpa. Ecce: vivo sub sole quia perdidi antro. Ego vinctus liberatur sed lux clariori. Mea culpa. Mea culpa, ego scorpionem, et sol lucet super inferna. Ecce: oro auxilia.
It's been about 10 years since I was last proficient in latin but my best translation is: Behold: I am The many and one. I am the serpent And serpents are many. It is my fault. Behold: I live under the sun but am lost in a cave. I am a prisoner freed the light is clearer. It is my fault. It is my fault, I am the scorpion, The sun shines over the hells. Behold: I pray for help.
Dang, someone who actually knows the language. It's much more fun to pretend to and give a humorously inaccurate "translation" :lol: Or just do it mad libs style with friends!
Took me 30 minutes and my old textbooks to translate that. I wouldn't say I 'know' it (though some of the words and lines I did know).
Less expert than yours, Magikot, but a slight variation... Freedom. Lo, I am and many in one. I am a snake and many snakes. My guilt. Lo: I dwell under sun because I suffer in a cave. I am a released prisoner. So light seems brighter. My guilt. My guilt. I am a scorpion. And the sun's light surpasses hell. Lo: I beg for aid.
Can somebody (magikot? ytzk?) tell me how the second stanza should read if it's meant to be to do with having lost (the safety of) one's cave and the sun's light being too bright?

[he begs the help] It may be a text about a repentant christian if you look at the meaning of libellus. It may have a reference to Plato's Cave regarding the religion and its lies.
