    But any vampire could wreck a zombie. Plus vampires are smart enough to remain somewhat cool, despite various things about them being stupid, like not being able to go in the sun.

    Yes but they are not a pure form of undeath, they still retain a semblance of life(as evidenced by remaining emotion). They also need to drink the lifeforce(blood) of others to maintain their power, so they must take life into themselves on a regular basis to remain "living" so to speak.

    They are diseased, not true undead.

    I've always been a big fan of liches. I think they make the best necromancers because nobody would understand the process like something (someone?) who's gone through it.
