    Top screen
Everything but the top row of buttons and the bottom row of everything else.

    Bottom touch screen
All the menus in tabbed windows, with a bit of re-jig for the spells and skills buttons, and perhaps an all in one window for the fate points and wait times.

    D-pad, A & B
D-pad to move around manually (instead of clicking on the ground)
A to talk to characters (use the D-pad to face the characters
    B to toggle attack mode

    Start and Select
    Start for the main menu
    Select for autosave

    Would it be possible?

Not without source code. You can't hex edit an entirely different control code base into old code... unless the control code base is completely external of the executable ( which it is not, near as I can tell in this case ) It would need to be rewritten, recompiled, and then exported to DS.

I think it would be a good idea. Of-course I'd have to do without my tweaks. (nothing game breaking, but I've grown fond of them)

Good idea. But along with the tab'ed menu on the bottom touch screen, I'd also put the main/city map for point-click travel with the stylus.

I've forgotten about the L/R buttons! What would they be used for?
