    Good question!!!

    Now I have one:

Is this a joke? If you have them snap-shotted, why delete them in the first place?

    I'd say use the ever-trusty Gateway Go-Back.

What are you talking about? These files where created during the start-up scan. According to the scan, it'll convert all files scanned. I tried opening them but I get this message.

How important is this? Have the files been deleted?

BTW, you use Windows XP, eh?

First of all, rename them to something the computer can understand better!

What are these files supposed to do? Are they programs, run programs, or just files you want to read? Give them the correct extentions, if possible, and, as I said, take out all the wierd symbols. It confuses the computer.

If I can do that then I wouldn't be asking this would I? I can delete, rename, open, scan, manipulate, etc. these files. Haven't you read my reply. These files were created and I think was converted from previous files inside the said folder. I now believe that this is a work of a virus or worm.

I was called out to look at a computer with a very similar problem once. That was years ago, back when some people still were running win 3.X. Anyway, the files were not only showing up with funny names but had impossible file sizes as well (some were negative bytes, some were terrabytes) anyway, when I tried using a vurus scan, the whole system went haywaire and I had to format the drive.
Maybe this is something different, but I'd back up everything you need on that machine and then try using a virus scan ASAP.

Thanks mihawl85. It's a huge file. After downloading, installing, and using it, I found out that you can not recover files using this program since it is a trial version. However, I was able to find the files I am looking for. I am even more surprise that the files I deleted several months ago is still recoverable!

It's a huge file people. 31.4 MB. But a great program for recovering files, if you'd like to pay for it.

Now my problem goes down to deleting these files. Anyone knows how to do this?

Looks to me like your file system is fucked up beyond repair, man... you may need to back up your important data and just repartition and reformat the bastard.

I get that EXACT same message when I try to delete files off of a floppy that just gave up the ghost!

Maybe check if they are write-protected.

If that doesn't work, try a file shredder. Search for it at http://www.download.com

How can a folder at the main drive be write-protected? If you mean read-only, no they aren't write protected. I already tried shredding the folders / files but it just won't find them. :(

    Tell me their directory.

    And, yes, I meant read-only.

    That's it? C:/My Music?

You can't delete it by hand or with a program, eh?

Try corrupting the files. Open them in notepad/wordpad and delete all the text in them. Make them into files with nothing (or just a little letter) in them. However, make ABSOLUTELY SURE they aren't for some imporatant program before doing this. One you have changed the code in Notepad/Wordpad, save it as them, and then you should be able to delete them, and, if you can't, don't worry because they are useless then.

No. There are 4 more and I don't see the reason why I should post it here. The other one is already visible in the screenshot. ;)

    A little grumpy, aren't you?

Well, if you think it is a virus, then don't run any of the programs.

Just fiddle around and fix it by trial and error.

The best bet would be, as said before, to save the important stuff and re-format you hard disk drive.
