Howdy, I was wondering if anyone here has any relations to any literary agents and/or authors and/or publishers. Basically, I'm looking for any help one can provide in that field. I've completed my debut novel over a year ago, but finding an agent is proving to be problematic, while most publishers turn down unsolicited works right away. That will teach me not to write about anything but magical schools filled with sparkly vampire love affairs. (or at least that seems to be the problem based on the abundant turn-downs I've received.) Anyone who can lend a hand is more than welcome to speak up.
Well there is always self publishing. Andy Weir used Amazon kindle direct publishing to make The Martian available as an ebook and once it started selling the traditional publishers and agents who had told him the book wouldn't sell came knocking on his door.
Mmm, decent advice. I've always considered e-books to be crap, but your example proves me wrong. I guess I'll need to keep this option in consideration.
50 Shades Of Grey was also initially self-published as an Amazon e-book before being picked up by print publishers. I think that demonstrates that in the publishing business nobody knows what the hell they're doing.
I kinda noticed that by now... Not because of my personal failures with this system, but more because nobody seems to know what the hell they're doing.
