Gar

Hi folks!

Is that a bug or can Gar really wear NO armor? Haven't found anything about that in the TA-followers-list.

There is a post about that saying that gar cannot wear any armour. No, I think he can but a different type of armour.

 

What can that be?

 

I forgot as it was some time ago. Search for it.

 

gar is an orc thats the problem
find an amor that an orc can wear and he will
also waer it i think but i never meet an orc
who wears any amor

i think its the same with waromon
he cant wear any amor

 

I think he can wear barbarian armor. There's some in one of the out of the way places like the cold place or the strange pond. It may be a random item, and it has to be identified.

 

I tried all armor I could find on Gar. I don't even think dread armor worked. What gets me is that he is actually a HUMAN that looks like an Orc. I would think that the game would take into account his race rather than the character art. Hmm...even the game is discriminating against Orcish looking people! :razz:

 

Maybe the game designers went by the philosophy 'If it looks like an orc, walks like ann orc and talks like an orc then it must be an orc.' :smile:

 

Gar *can* wear dread armor, and all the "barbarian clothes" type armor. He can also (I discovered by accident) wear plate mail (or at least charmed plate mail, I haven't tried with any other kind). The graphic for that one is pretty cool.

I think it's the hunched shoulders, stooped back, elongated arms, and such that prevents orcs (or orc-alikes) to wear most clothing and armor. Or else the graphics people just got lazy and didn't want to draw an orc in a suit or leather armor.

 

Gar can indeed wear all kinds of plate mail. Any of the barbarian armor/clothes as well. I agree that the armor limitation sucks - pure laziness on someone's part.

 

Eh, it's not that bad. He can at least wear the best armors, and I think the designers wanted a certain number of tradeoffs for the "superhuman fighter" type NPCs. Almost all of them are either too big or too small for normal armor, so this kind of fits into the MO. And, even unarmored, he still doesn't die nearly as often as Virgil.

 

maybe if you tried Large size armor ?

Gar seems okay for a follower but I wouldn't keep him.

 

I keep him, because I like his funny way of talking! X

The person who voice Gar is the same person who voice Arronax, Joachim, and Nasrudin.
