    My wife played ROGs :)

Hey Jinxed, I can believe that. Sex is great but not always sustaining like a good RPG

Unless you were a religious couple and didnt have sex HAR!

Ok, back to the title, when i first dated my wife I had no idea she would be this cool about RPG but she actually played pen and paper Middle Earth, Adv. D&D, and Call of Cthulu. D&D before mariage and the other 2 after marriage. Kinda wierd but I feel lucky  On the other hand she doesnt like me blowing money on computer games but such is life. I do it anyway, heh.

Just think if you had a kid! My daughter wants to play games all the time or go outside and breathg fresh air! That sucks up alot of time I could be playing computer games. And we got another due in february for better or worse

Yep! I'm a girl too! I know what it's like to feel odd on a male dominated forum. I go to a Warhammer forum a lot and I am the ONLY female there.

Jinxed & Emrys, you are really lucky to have a girlfriend/wife that is interested in rpg - my girlfriend isn't able to see any sense in those things. But - it doesn't matter - she has got other qualities...
My former girlfriend was very interested in rpg and such things but she was a <XXXXXXX> - that's life - so much to the reality-thing in this thread. X

By the way Jinxed, what do you mean with the "fat guy"?

    tru, tru..
But also, methinks people have difficulty finding a direction in their life, or something with deep meaning to themselves that they can strive for. Computer games, drugs, and other addictions do very well as distractions from this universe, and keep you occupied so that you don't have to ask yourself why you are here, what is important, and where you wish to be.

On the other hand, plinking deathclaws in the eye from three screens away with a sniper rifle is fun.

For me, computer games are a diversion. I have a girlfriend and a good job, but I still have to keep myself amused in the evenings.

There was a time in my life when I'd entertain myself by going to the pub and socialising, but I couldn't do it forever. It doesn't exactly broaden your horizons talking to the same 10 people every night, particularly when both you and they are half drunk. Also, I NEVER want a beer belly

There was also a time when I'd spend hours each day in front of the TV. While this, could be worthwhile, it's pretty difficult to find anything to watch that doesn't suck, unless you like reality shows, which I definitely don't.

Nowadays I pretty much stick to playing computer games and reading. My g/f and I go out enough (we went to the Natural History museum on Saturday and saw AI on Sunday) but we aren't the sort to make up a reason to go out if there isn't one.

Currently, I'm filling my time with Arcanum and reading "A Game of Thrones" and my g/f is reading "Lord of the Rings". We're both pretty happy.

I sometimes go through periods where I kind of blame computer games for my not having achieved some of the things I want to do, like writing a book or putting together my SF/FF novel version of IMDB, but in more honest moments I realise that I choose to play computer games. If I haven't achieved something, it's down to me.

Hmmm ... well, I didn't mean to write such a long and personal post, but I wanted to try to show how computer games are just another normal part of life, like books, TV, sport or whatever. Being into them doesn't preclude having a girlfriend or a normal life.
