Can we ban threads which have one or both of 'Apple' and 'Blackberry' in their title, or something?

What so you're happy to descriminate against those people who want to create a thread entitled "I'm Unhappy About The Lack of Blackberries In Arcanum" concerning the lack of edible fruit, specifically blackberries, in the game? Because in my opinion that is in no way fair!

Throw in Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and Ericsson and we'll never have any spambots again.

Or till the end of the week, at least.

I don't think it's possible without heavy modding to the forums, and that's an uphill battle. I'm about to start fighting for the ability to multi-delete threads. You think dealing with spambots is cumbersome, try deleting them thread by thread. >_<

Does anybody frequent a forum that doesn't have a spambot problem? We could try to change the registration process to match theirs.

That requires effort on the part of someone like The_Bob. Who usually does things sporadically, and in batches.

In other words: Moot point is moot.

I sporadically do things in batches too. And they're like "Smuel, you do things in me so good." And I'm like "Shut up, batch."

Well, if he does still do things, even occasionally, it wouldn't do any harm to have a good idea at the ready.

That's funny from a certain point of view, Smuel; but when you get to your age, it's just creepy...

I frequent the new planet vampire forum (not the one listed on this website, apparently the majority of people had a problem with gamespy one so they made there own) and it never seems to have any problems. It's a relatively small forum like here, I don't really know what they do that's any different though.

Forgot there was a Captcha! Well I guess that is the best way to prevent these things from happening.

I think the trade of the constant barraging of useless spambots for a small, one-time annoyance (which wouldn't even affect you or I, since we're already signed up) is fair.

The problem with this forum is the theme and version of phpbb is quite old, and as such there isn't a whole lot that can be done easily without overhauling the whole thing.

Which is a lot of work. And if the admins here are anything like me they're allergic.

I locked a few threads in GD by changhu, a spambot. It made threads in the other subforums, too. Why wasn't the bot deleted? It just posted again in the Roleplaying forum.

oh, uhm, I noticed they usually didn't spam more than once, and got lazy about actually banning them. >_>

I knew that'd come back to me sooner or later. Ah well.
