I was going to create a new caracter and was thinking of making an unarmed magical fighter when i saw the spell Hardened Hands.
What does it really do though? the description is very brief...
Does it scale with your aura or maybe your strengh?
Would be awsome if it does! |

I think it grants +2 unarmed damage regardless of your magickal aptitude or something similarly trivial. _________________ Those who forget the pasta are doomed to reheat it. |

Yes, it's a measly +2 bonus to your unarmed damage.
If you want to try an unarmed fighter in Arcanum, then you'd better off with gauntlets. Max unarmed damage with bare fists is only 10-10, but it can be much higher with good gauntlets. IIRC, the best gauntlets damage-wise are Machined Gauntlets. You can find a copy in the BMC mines and on a certain person in Dernholm. They can't be crafted. _________________ Is Dragon Age better than Arcanum? Good god, are you joking, of course, it is! |

I believe the war gauntlets you find in Vendigroth or whatever they're called have the same stats as the Machined Gauntlets, but you don't get your hands on them (well, in them actually) until very late in the game. _________________ Those who forget the pasta are doomed to reheat it. |

Different stats, same additional damage.
Also, it should be noted that you don't find the Vendigrothian War Gauntlets but a quite demanding schematic for building them. Then again, nothing tech manuals can't take care of. _________________

Arcanum lacks an unarmed fighter (monk) class-like option. I never noticed before. _________________

Monk class characters are pretty silly anyway. Of course, in a world of magic anything is possible, but a magical sword should still be more dangerous than a magical glove.
The Witcher handled the brawling skill superbly in my opinion. It should be a skill for special circumstances only; when things need killing, you pull out the bladed stuff. _________________ Those who forget the pasta are doomed to reheat it. |
