Hi everybody! Sorry if this was already mentioned (I searched for it but couldn't find anything similar). I decided to play as a Charlatans Protege so I have +6 Charisma at the start. When I wanted to cross the bridge (my Persuasion was 4), I got an option in the conversation with Lukan to talk as a thief in disguise from The Underground. At the end, he gives me 200 coins and the key to the gate.
This never happened to me so I wonder is this something commonly known or is it new to you too?

This game is more than eight years old, there's hardly such a thing as a spoiler in this game any more. So to answer your question, yes this is commonly known. Persuasion can be used to solve quite a lot of quests in this game without having to resort to violence.

5. Trick Lukan (this is my personal favorite). If your persuasion is high enough, you can trick Lukan into thinking you are a member of the Thieves Underground from Tarant, and convince him to leave AND pay YOU 200 gold. If you wish and are quick, you can attack Lukan and his crew before they disappear for some extra experience and equipment.

You're not the first one to choose the Charlatan's Protege background and start with 16/20 Persuasion, you know.

After all these years, I wonder if there's still something waiting to be revealed in Arcanum. It would be amazing to see a post here with a real discovery.

Ben muz gibi!

You are aware that the "new one" has an account which is nearly nineteen times as old as your one, right? I'm guessing that you mentally merged klinikk and Phadech into one twisted being.

Oh, my... I know the game is old, but I just read that there is a new player here and I'm sure he's not the only one. Maybe you know every and tiny bit of it, but that doesn't mean that everybody else know it too. So, cool down your ego and don't act like everything you know is commonly known.

Ps: I'm sorry for your loss of the feeling when you discover something new

Really?! No way! I thought I came up with that first!

Yeah, I'd like to know it too I played the game in various combinations over the years and every time discovered something new - that's the reason I still consider it the best game ever. I don't like walkthroughs so I can't say I mastered it like some of you did, but that is the beauty of it - to digg something new is the best!

No, Mesteut, I'm not a Turk. I don't understand your question, except the part where you ask where I'm from - and the answer is: Croatia.

That was your question and Aurdal answered it with saying, that it is commonly known. Your rant in response is nonsensical at best.

kinikk wrote:

You may not like walkthroughs, but the fact is that we do have a walkthrough section and it's there for a reason, so it would be a good idea to check if something you want to say isn't already in there before starting a new thread in order to officially enlighten us that the Earth is spherical (or cubic). The first time was forgivable, but now that you are aware of the said section's existence, repeating the same mistake will make you look silly.

So you're suggesting that we should firstly annihilate the walkthrough section, search button and the sticky threads, and then repost every single Arcanum-related information at least once a week in case someone new appears? Why, that sounds reasonable.

Ankara.

Arcanum is still one of my favorites (especially after seeing all those "modern" abominations like Fallout 3 which are obviously designed for 10 year old kids and housewives instead of gamers) so I tend to lurk here from time to time but as you see I don't post much.

You mean, you've been playing Arcanum all these years and you hadn't convinced Lukan to leave until recently? Does it really take that long to get rid of Lukan without reading a walkthrough? Maybe I should have also isolated myself from all spoilers and there would be still new secrets to be discovered...

Ahhh... I'd say "Have fun with Melih Gökçek", but we failed to get Kiliçdaroglu elected, and thus we're stuck with Kadir Topbas. Still, Ankara is quite a nice place... Except Çinçin(?), but that's just one part.

And yeah, totally agree on what you said about new games.

@New Guy: I directed that question to Phadech, as you can see. No problem though, not quoting people might lead to confusion.

Oh, I convinced Lukan to let me go either by killing him or by stealing the key from him. I just didn't have Persuasion and Charisma as high as this time at that point in the game - that's way I never got the opportunity to do it in "wise" way.

@Muro Lightning : I didn't suggest anything - silly me, I just wanted to share a little discovery of which I didn't know. Perhaps I overstepped my bounds. Good day to you...

You've got a rather broad definition of "convinced" there.

@Klinikk: "As high"? You only need one point in Charisma to persuade Lukan, or namely 4/20.

@Phadech: Good to see you aren't a "AKP'li".

Except for a couple of grandmaster players/advisors, anyone who has completed this or any other CRP game more than 5 times really needs to get a life. I know, I'm still trying to find one!

But playing a CRPG again and again is the whole point of it, no?

After all, they are not linear garbage games with porno-quality plot and voice acting whose whole content is easily discovered in one (or a few) runs. Especially Arcanum. If you've beaten a high quality CRPG 5 times, it doesn't mean you're an obese four-eyed virgin who needs to get a life. It only means you've just begun getting into it.

Avoid double posting in the future, Kirov - use the edit button instead. It would be a good idea to check out the FAQ too.

I apologize for my double post.

And thank you for your help, though, I would rather not look up how to do it, instead I would like to figure it out for myself.

But thank you.

BTW, possible bug...

If I do the quest for Doc Roberts and choose the technologist option (to get the gun), Lukan will not offer me the deal of blowing up the bridge because of that. However, if I choose the "magickal" or "neutral" (dumb) option, I can always make the deal with him. Is this a confirmed bug and has it been solved in the UAP?

Well, I would give my contribute on this thread, whit an exploit that you can make still on Shoudred Hills.

However, if you manage to steal to Ristezzze the key of his room, you can sale to him every undentified weapon/object for 100 coin or more (most depending by your haggle skill), and then enter on his room, open the box with his stuff with his key and retrieve then the weapon that you sale to him, but now is identified and his magical benefits are now revealed. And this without pay those women or use the indicate spell. Also, steal the key to Ristezze is also pretty easy, sometimes I manage to do it wiithout any single point invested on Pickpocket.

But I guess some, of maybe all, of you already knew this. Well, then excuse me if I have annoyed you, but I found this thread was indicate for posting this trick.
