Xiao, when you finished, if you still have my mail, would you be so kind to mail me the story?

I'm looking forward to reading more of your work.

Oh, bollocks. Now I'm thinking dirty thoughts and I DO NOT WANT TO WRITE (pre-emptive) PORN.

Progress Report for Saturday November 7th
Starting Count: 15,761
Finishing Count: 18,314
Day's Count: 2,553 (More tha 2,000 of which were written in the last three hours)
Location Written: Josh's Loungeroom
While Watching: Class of the Titans, Frasier, Independance Day, Wallace and Gromit's Curse of the Wererabbit
While Listening To: The sound of my own cursing as my 'n' key starts to die
Insane Things That I'm Doing: I'm writing two novels at once. (Explained below)
Things I Now Loathe With All My Heart and Soul: Ads. Just... hate ads so damn much. They're so stupid and... and... ILLOGICAL! (And yes, I am aware that I'm calling the kettle black.)

So, Here's The Dealio:
Coin's Edge was quite literally a last-minute plot for me. I've spent a very, very long time working on a different plot, only to have Coin's Edge drop in and refuse to smeg off. Only now... it's smegged off alright, a WEEK INTO THE NANO! *hates her brain* So I dug out all the old stuff for Chains, mixed it with a few things from the aborted Twisted Loyalties thing (you remember, it had the infamous sig that people kept trying to claim was porn), and went to town.

This means two things: Coin's Edge is only being worked on when it deigns to rear it's ugly head. And it means that we get to see the life of a certain shy, red-headed Alchemist named after a flower found primarily in Scotland. Some of you may know her from my short stories... So I beg those of you following cliche plot #47 to forgive me, and hope that the adventures of a cute redhead make up for it. *curtseys*

Progress Report for Sunday November 8th
Starting Count: 18,314
Finishing Count: 21,045
Day's Count: 2,731
Location Written: My bedroom
While Watching: Star Trek: TNG and Voyager, Cold Case Files, Crime Investigation Australia
While Listening To: 'Echoes of Betrayal, Light of Redemption' (A really hardcore Final Fantasy IV fan soundtrack)
God-Dammit Moments: The realisation that if I take enough Panadol or Panadene to deal with my headache, I won't wake up in time for my final tests tomorrow.
Reasons Why This Place Melts My Brain: I went looking for Castlevania porn, only to discover that Rule 34 is suffering from some serious glitchery. I didn't need to know that.

Looks like, considering that I just went sailing past my daily word count and it's only 2:30 am. Even considering that I'll likely be spending the whole day on campus, I should have a very nice word count tonight. Woooo!

Current Word Count: 23,233

Yuuuuuuuuuuup.

Alright people. 25,000 words is my first reward point for the NaNo. I have no idea what to do this year - the Melbourne Film Festival doesn't arrive for another two weeks and there aren't any other decent movies around right now. I do seem to have about $100 dollars in my wallet that don't have anywhere to be, so even after I pick up my sister's Christmas pressie tomorrow I should have enough money to go do something fun.

Suggestions?

A new bikini. With pictures.

...oh, the reward was for you, not us.

...hm. No movies worth watching on the big screen, so my suggestion is to hit a day spa. I would suggest the beach with a case of cold drinks, but I think that's probably routine for you.

Blech, I wouldn't go for a beach. Launceston is just sitting on a river anyway.

Wasn't there some fancy tour thing just outside of Launceston? Or am I thinking of somewhere else?

Ugh, no beach for me. Sand sucks, salt water makes me puke and I burn faster than a pasty Irishman.

The day spa sounds good, I might have to look into that. You know, assuming the Roman Baths haven't upped their prices yet again.

Actually, considering she replied by saying she's all pasty and squeamish and likes to puke, I'm not sure if that would be a reward for us.

By way of participating, not hi-jacking this thread, I submit:

Progress Report for Sunday November 8th
Starting Count:
0
Finishing Count: 2,485
Day's Count: 2,485
Location Written: My computer room
While Listening To: Relient K, "Be My Escape"
While Drinking: $3(USD)/bottle Cabernet Sauvignon
Main Characters Introduced: Judd, Chris, Sam, Stanley

For what it's worth to those with even a passing interest, it's fun to type type type type, perhaps advancing the story you hope to convey, perhaps not, and just see your word count pile up.
Regarding listening to "Be My Escape" over and over again, I'm more or less autistic with how I listen to music. It works for me.
Regarding my beverage, I'm more likely to go blind before I finish this novel than actually finish this novel.
Regarding the introduction of my main characters, I am presenting the scene from the first-person perspective of my least favorite main character for no greater reason than I don't know how to start this story otherwise. Also, I have done a miserable job of presenting these characters as I have envisioned them, although as the word count climbs, I'm having an easier time recognizing them. So far, my character development is much like my forehand Frisbee throw -- wobbly at first, but taking definite shape and direction as the momentum stabilizes it.

By all means, try this.

At last count, 11-odd-thousand. Piece is based on Arcanum type-world, but at the opposite end of the game's timeline, sort of. I.e. Fantasy-steampunk (can you believe it? My Creative Writing Class has never heard of the genre!)

Prologue here.

You should underdress and look kind of slummy and walk into a high class store and wait for the employees to be rude to you with comments like," Are you going to buy anything." Then you whip out a wad of 100 one dollar bills real fast so they think its more and say you are ready to buy and pick out a crap load of stuff. When they take your purchases to the counter and ring everything up you should then say you changed your mind and leave.

Then go buy icecream or something.[/quote]

Thank you, but no. Based solely on the body and bouquet of the wine, I cannot imagine it's any more serious than drinking vinegar.
