And here it is...

    $4m Stretch Goal - Enhance the Whole Game

    OK! After much team deliberation we have one final ultimate stretch goal. At $4.0m we will be enhancing the whole game. We will use live instrumentation for the soundtrack, add developer in-game commentary, and use every dollar between $3.5m and $4m to enhance the game. Also at $4.0m Chris Avellone will be forced to play Arcanum.

    We are streaming live now on Twitch and UStream. We will be playing board games, answering your questions, and having fun!

    Thank you everyone!

    *basks in the unearthly glow*

    They really may have well just said "Yeah we need more money for... err... things, you know... stuff... just give us more money damnit!" Still, watching an interesting Arcanum LP would be fun.

    Was that bit some kind of Obsidian insiders joke? I don't get the big deal about Avellone not having played a game.

    It was (might still be) the top voted question on the AMA, and I think people were just surprised that he hadn't played it seeing as Tim's on the team and many people still view it as a classic. Hopefully PE will serve to drill home that there is a big following for Arcanum still, maybe leading to a sequel if PE is successful enough and someone purchases the rights for it.

    It would be great if that could happen. But I think the ownership of the game went:

    Sierra --> Vivendi -->Blizzard

    Its not likely that Blizzard even realise its in their big pile of acquired properties from merging with Vivendi and even if they did so many companies would rather own something and not use it than let someone else get it and make money with it.

    Let's start a kickstarter campaign to buy the Arcanum rights.

    The latest PayPal total I know of is $140,099 in addition to the Kickstarter so they will hopefully still be over the 4 million mark once they pay all the fees involved with PayPal and Kickstarter.

    They probably won't. Kickstarter charges 5 %, and then Amazon charges atleast 5 %.

    So at best they're left with $3,598,203.4 from Kickstarter, probably less. But I would assume they've included this in their calculations when setting the funding goals.

    Obsidian's Project Eternity KS is the third most successful project in the history of Kickstarter + the most successful video game project*. Also, in terms of total number of backers, it is second only to Double Fine Adventure.

    * Not counting OUYA, which belongs to the video games category but is a console rather than a game.
