Anyone been keeping up to date with E3? I've found it to be underwhelming except for one thing that looks interesting. No Man's Sky looks like an open space game where you can seamlessly land on any planet and take off all without worrying about loading screens. What you actually do I have no idea though.

I've not been watching any sort of video coverage or the conferences themselves - just reading articles from time to time. There seems to be a lot of mainstream normal games coming out (Little Big Planet 3, Uncharted 4, whatever number the new Assassin's Creed is, etc.) and next gen remakes (The Last of Us, GTA V) which all in all are pretty hard to get excited about.

As you mentioned though No Man's Sky looks cool, especially seeing as the team who made it is only about 10 strong and lost most of their work in the floods here in the past year. It's also nice to see they're remaking Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey as Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, I remember it pretty fondly from when I was a kid.

Beyond that, it's interesting to hear they're remaking Grim Fandango though I never played it myself; I guess some good has come of Disney acquiring LucasArts. Honestly, with the number of fanboys it has, I was half surprised there wasn't a seismic event resulting from the simultaneous mach-force manly relief they must have experienced when the news broke.

"No Man's Sky" is pretty interesting. I feel like "procedurally generated content" is becoming the new industry buzzword that means less than it imparts. Still, "No Man's Sky" shows promise.

I don't follow E3 per se (because I don't give much a fig about hardcore video gaming but I do like to be informed where my hobbies are concerned), but I am subscribed to a number of youtube channels that cover it.

From my perspective the highlights of E3 are...
    • Super Smash Bros. (because of fun and nostalgia from my college days)
Phantom Dust (because I enjoy deck building and I've been looking for a game akin to "Lost Kingdoms")
Sunset Overdrive (because I appreciate games in the third-person perspective, parkour, and punkish attitudes)

I think if they can develop it nicely then it will be good in this field. I have seen a lot of videos with it and hoping this can be done. :)
