“Where does one begin to tell the story of the dwarves of Kingitanga? Unmatched in knowledge and power, they subdued all before them. They built the highest and dug the deepest, their realm spanning the length and breadth of the land. A people obsessed with pride and greed, they held no charity or mercy. We were slaves to them, beasts of burden, and we toiled in their fields and in their tunnels.

So came the day when the dwarves reached for creation itself, and for once they met a challenge even they could not master. In a flash their civilization was undone, and of the dwarves themselves no one has neither seen nor heard a trace since that day. Shall we ever witness their likes again?”

    Animus, On the Dwarves

It has been nearly five hundred years since the Dwarven Empire of Kingitanga collapsed and its rulers, the dwarves themselves, disappeared. Before that their civilization has flourished for over a thousand years, spanning all over the land known as Whenua. The exact circumstances about the fall of the dwarves are unknown to this day, but there are several theories on the subject. Some believe that their constant quest for knowledge angered the gods, who destroyed them. Others believe they perished in an experiment that went terribly wrong. There is some evidence supporting the belief that an internal conflict tore their society apart in civil war, but for most people the dwarves were there one day and gone the next. Recordings from the time of the disappearance are rare, and since there are no surviving witnesses nothing conclusive can be said on the matter. What remains are the ruined strongholds and the vast network of tunnels and underground cities they built in their prime. Some of these are utilized by the current civilizations living on the surface, but most stand empty and abandoned and are considered haunted or worse.

We will play as the successor kingdoms, whose peoples were once enslaved by the Kingitangan Empire. They may have been formed recently or in ancient times. They may consist of a multitude of different races. What they all have in common is the impact the dwarves had, and still have to some degree, on their culture.

    Guidelines for creating a nation

    - Don’t pick a too large or small part of the map. Try to cover some space while still making room for other players.
    - Don’t go overboard on race or nation descriptions. Keep it level and realistic.
    - Try to connect in some way to other player nations.
    - Try to connect in some way to the legacy of the dwarves.
    - My vision for this game is an early medieval world, like the dark ages after the fall of Rome.
    - Don’t make a perfect nation. You’re not in it to win it, we’re writing this story together.

    Nation Sheet

    Name: Usmkein

People: Gautreks - The Gautreks are a Minute race, with an appearance similar to that of Dwarves. However, the Gautreks do not develop any technology unlike the Dwarves. It is rare to see a Gautrek with good dexterity as these people are usually muscular. They make for good mêlée fighters with their strength and toughness, if not a bit slow in combat. The average life length of a Gautrek is roughly 350 years.

Location: The island to the south (see image below)

Background: The Gautreks are originating from the Dwarves, but they have been existing for so long anyone can remember. Due to their unstable relations with, including wars fought between and trade embargos on, the Dwarves, the Gautreks have developed into their own people. A long time ago, they had a great empire rivaling Kingitanga, but it collapsed long before Kingitanga did so. Thus, the Gautreks mostly keep to themselves now on their island. Most of their wars were fought in the caves, but despite the Gautreks being a lot in their mines, they are also great sailors. Usmkein was formed roughly six hundred years ago, by Haeng Godfridson who united the Gautrek people. Even before the nation itself Usmkein was formed, the Gautrek people were close to each other, mainly due to their deficiancies with the Dwarves, and thus Usmkein was intended to join the people into a single strong one.

Religion: Rather than the Dwarven philosophy behind The Stone & The Shape, the Gautreks have their own pagan religion known as Zakator, though it makes not that much significance in their society. Being religious is one's own choice in
the Gautrek society, so attending rituals etcetera is not mandatory.

That's a great start on a nation! I do however want you to flesh it out a bit; what is their culture like, do they practice any religion, what is their recent history and how was their relation to the dwarves, etc.

    Also, I believe this part...

...belongs with the racial description in People.
